Anyone flashed there Vario II to wm 6?

I also flash Black Satin medium, I had no use for all the HTC music plugins etc! So far I'm really liking it. The only thing it's missing compared to Black Majik are the different coloured themes! Black Majik came with red, green and black themes while Black Satin only had Black and the standard WM6 theme :( . Any links to the themes used in Black Majik?

Another thing I don't like about WM6 is windows live messenger! It's a great IM for PPC but it integrates your WLM contacts with your phone contacts and makes everything a mess :mad: . I'm using Agile Messenger till someone removes that "feature".

Same, love it apart from now my contacts list is a total mess and theres no way to fix it. You cannot stop them from syncing, whoever made that decision at microsoft...what the hell were you thinking?!

could you explain (to a n00b) what you mean please?
i have to add that i hate the way the Vario handles your phone contacts.

I love the Vario's handling of contacts personally! With my contacts I have all their personal details down such as email, IM, address, DOB, Name, work address etc. When you first load up WLM it'll add your MSN contacts into your contacts! It's really annoying as it makes everything look a mess and if you delete a contact from MSN it'll delete them from your phone book etc.

how do you group your contacts on the vario though into work/ friends/family etc?

Ok, basically you've got pocket msn which comes on wm5 as standard, and the new Live Messenger which comes standard on wm6 and is available to download for wm5.

Its 100% superior to pocket msn. Tabs for current convos, you can have and change a profile picture to anything you like, AND you can send sound clips just like in real messenger.

The downside...when you login for the first time it warns you it is going to sync all your msn contacts into your phone contacts list. The options are either OK or Cancel sign in, so you dont have much choice! The next time you look at your contact list on your phone you'll find every single one of your msn contacts merged in with all your current phone contacts, creating a very long and hard to navigate list. If you delete the msn contacts on your phone, it also deletes them from your msn profile so the next time you sign in on your pc (like I did) you'll find all your contacts missing. Excellent.

For those having issues with MSN Live, you have a few options available.

1. Shut up and put up with it :p
2. Use Agile Messenger
3. Use Octrotalk. Its free and also supports all of the other IM clients.
4. Download and install the WM5 Pocket MSN client. Search the XDA forums.

i didn't even know that option was there, thank you.
the only way i could figure out by myself was to enter "friends" or "family" etc into the "company" section of a contact, then use the "sort by company" option.
your way sounds easier, and a lot neater too.

btw can i assign different ringtones to the different catagories?
 
Have tried to update the radio on the Vario II and when selecting auto detect for the SPL version I get the message...

Error, Unknown Version! You should pick SSPL.

I have installed HARDSPL before doing this.

Anyone have any ideas how to proceed?

DON'T USE SSPL.

What version of hardSPL are you using? HardSPL v7 (2.10)? If so, select that from the top options (it's the bottom one) and click "Is it hardSPL?" as well. I got this problem to using hardSPL v7 (2.10).

Thats correct, pick the correct one yourself and tick is it hardspl. I too had the same problem but everything went fine.
 
Flashed to Black Satin Medium yesterday without any problems. Just as stable as Black Majik but I feel its a little bit quicker in operation.

Would quite happily leave this ROM on my Vario II for good now..... Until some clever chef cooks up another must have ROM.. :D
 
I tried black but didnt like it, it was too black! I'm back on the colourful htc green wm5 atm and everything is fine. I'm waiting for the official htc tytn WM6 release which should be around soon, theres already been an early version leaked (bit buggy though) and it looks pretty.
 
Since flashing the phone it works lovely other than I cannot get my mobile betting applications to work.

Bet 365 mobile installed fine in Midlet Manager on windows mobile 5.0, but now when trying it says java is not supported on the device.

Is there a way to go back to WM5?

Download the Black Add-On Cabs Enchantments.

It contains the Esmertec Java Manager Midlet Manager.

Or do you mean even with a midlet manager Java still doesn't work?
 
Have used the Black Satin website and downloaded the Java program - no joy. Have tried Tao Midlet Manager - no joy.

I am gonna try the official WM6 release and if no joy with that, try the link you have provided.

Then hopefully all will be working lovely!!
