Anyone flashed there Vario II to wm 6?

Just follow the guides I posted and you should be fine.

Followed the guide on that site for Black Majik, after about 11% of updating the Radio something messed up and it failed, meaning it was stuck on the tri-colour screen. Managed to get it flashed back to the old ROM, then re-flashed to Black Majik without doing the Radio update and it seems ok. Don't suppose you can post a link to a download for the Radio version you are using? Mine's on 1.38, and the guide i followed tried to install 1.43 which is the one that failed and nearly gave me a heart attack... :p

Yesterday I flashed my Vario 2 with the following:
- Radio 1.48 (noticed much better battery and 3G coverage)
- WM6 Black Majik
- hardSPL (replacement bootloader)

done all of this in under an hour, and so far its been time well spent. Black Majik has been very stable and incredibly quick so far :-D

Flashed mine to Black Majik yesterday and for some reason it was freezing every other minute. One of the times it was just sitting on the side after i had sent an SMS, picked it up, noticed the backlight was still on after it had been sitting there for a couple minutes, and it was frozen...could not do anything. Had to remove battery each time to get it back up.

In the end i gave up and have gone back to the HTC 2.11 WM5 ROM which works a treat, just a shame as i really wanted to use WM6 :(

You could try Black Satin when it's released, or maybe try the official ATT WM6 ROM available from xda-devs. simply do a soft-reset when its installing as the custom rubbish. after that you can install one of the t-mobile uk cabs which put the gprs, mms etc settings back on :-).

I can't explain why you're having problems with BM, it's been rock solid for me so far. the speed increase is quite dramatic! when u flashed wm6 bm did u flash hardSPL and the latest hermes radio (1.48.0.0)?

I used the tool from xda-developers to de-cid and sim unlock mine and then flash it as i had that error message also. Am certain this voids the warranty but my Vario II is pretty old and i was going to buy a new phone anyway so not a big deal for me...plus it means i can use any sim card.

My phone shouldnt be locked anyway though, because its a sim free, HTC branded one?
Is there not a WM6 ROM around that wont require me to do that?

Just saying what i did to sort it pal. I'm sure there was an easier way a few pages back in this thread (running something twice?) and if not somebody less n00bletty in this area than myself will be able to help :p

BoomAM, whenever you flash, the package checks the CID of the device.

The CID is a string that identifies carrier and language of your device, it is contained also on ROM upgrade files and is used to check that you're flashing your device with the right ROM.

The flash utility and bootloader check this string before letting you flash anything, that is why if you want to flash an English ROM on a German device you get an error, if you want to flash an i-mate ROM on a Orange device you get an error etc.

Your getting that error because you've got a European handset but trying to flash with a HK ROM.

To get around this, you can use SSPL or Hard SPL.

Read the XDA Wiki's and forums and decide which is best for you.:)

Just sent you that file Guru. Hope you like it. Anyone else using Majik onwards and they want the five tabs on the home page from the upcoming Kaiser just say.

Cheers mate! Will install it later on today.:)

Black Majik is perfect apart from issues with MS Messenger Live. Get to the bit where it connects and attempts to sync and then just throws up an error.

Apart from that, its very nice. Along with the 1.47.00.10 Radio ROM, battery life is a lot better.

Just need the XDA crew to release the 3G dialler and then the circle is complete.:D

Whens the European ROM out?

I have a question, just wondered if anyone had come across it before. I've flashed with hardspl, but when I try any other rom (radio or os) I click Auto detect on the first screen and it gives a warning "Error, Unknown Version! You should use SSPL". Is this normal? The guides I have read suggest otherwise.

Have you still gone ahead with the flash with no problems? Maybe it's meant to do this because we have hardspl?

One ROM worked perfectly for me - the 2.11 HTC WM5 one. The rest all get to either 0%, 11% or 36% and stop working...i then have to reinstall the 2.11 one which works until i try again! So far none of the radio upgrades have worked for me...they all get to the percentages above and then stop and after resetting all i get is stuck on the bootloader.

Have tried radios 1.43, 1.47 and 1.48 without any luck now.
