Anyone get scared playing games?

Amnesia scared me crapless.

I was informed of the water level before playing it so wasn't really frightened, but the one right after it when trying to get the machine parts for the lift...argh.

I also managed to get myself into a state where I found Bioshock scary. Sander ****** Cohen baby!

Don't get scared, but I do really panic sometimes.

That said I did have the one of the biggest scares of my life playing Thief: The Dark Project. I had to turn off the game and get in bed, but my heart was still pounding for quite a while and it took me while to settle down :o

I remember now, ECCO THE DOLPHIN!

This game scared the bejeesus out of me, it was so creepy, the weird stuff you saw and the feeling of sheer isolation. And the final boss is really scary.

The game was too hard for me at the time so I didnt get sleepless nights from it as I would stop playing out of frustration. But I did know the "please 00" cheat which sent you to the last level, and I was so weirded out from it, it was nightmarish.

I found FEAR 2 a bit dodgy in 3d. The aiming reticule was at surface depth which put me off... it made me feel kinda sick as well which I could fix by changing the 3d settings in other games but not that one.

Anyways, Penumbra, Amnesia and Minecraft scare me. You might lol at minecraft but there's something about the monsters that scares the bujesus out of me :D

Tomb Raider 4 used to scare me when I was younger and Anniversary still can. I don't know what it is with the Tomb Raider games... they're really immersive and atmospheric in a way no other games are. Resi 3 deserves a mention as well (when the Nemesis breaks through the wall of the police station a little bit of poop came out). The FEAR games didn't scare me in the slightest.

I couldnt complete one of the tomb raider games cause im scared of spiders.
You had to fight big ones, it was years ago now but i still remember it to this day, asking my sister and her mate to complete the level.

I said to them hold this button down (fire) and i walked out, then went back in when they stopped screaming...
So glad it wasnt me lool

Amnesia, Cradle level in thief .

The Shallbridge Cradle has to be THE scariest level in any game buts it run close by a level from the same franchise and that is Thief: The Dark Project where you have to hunt around the Haunted Cathedral. Great times.

Aliens Vs Predator (the original version) had me gripped when playing as a fragile Marine knowing you could be ripped to shreds in a blink of an eye.

Amnesia is the only game to actually scare me so far, though that depends heavily on immersion, if I play it with the intention of not being scared it's just mildly shocking, if I whack the headphones on, turn the lights off and relax into it it can be incredibly unnerving.

Few things. HL2 Ravenholm is one. Amnesia and Penumbra are two other examples, and I didn't play much of them.

Unlike some people, I don't really enjoy playing scary games. I'm the same with films. I play games to relax and have fun so I don't want to be on the edge of my seat and sweating profusely...

I get scared playing games on my own in the dark with headphones on, otherwise - no.

Best scares I've had were in Condemed: Criminal Origins, that game is just plain creepy.

Also that part in Stalker where you go into an abandoned building and go to the third floor and there is this figure standing in the corner and you go up and have a closer look and he's just standing there not moving or anything. So you think mmmm.. ok that's strange... then you hear an ominous bang downstairs and you walk down the staircase slowly to investigate - heart beating fast. There's a very nasty surprise.

dead space 1 scared me as I used to play in a dim lit room with headphones on and made me so paranoid that I always had my gun aimed while walking slowly through the corridors :D

dead space 2 made me jump once or twice throughout the game, but not really scared

I also watched my housemate play the penumbra games which creeped me out, dated graphics + eerie sound creates an intense atmosphere but wow it really does work for a horror game

Resident Evil games would scare me on the odd occasion, the licker (?) with it's slow feet tapping on the floor as it walked until you saw it round the corner and the spiders would always scare when I first saw them.

Thinking about it some of the areas in Stalker scared the crap out of me first time around - at night with all those eerie noises and the lightning really made it a great atmosphere!

The first of the games labs which has the poltergeists throwing stuff at you got to me more than a few times, I had to close the game down for a bit and come back to it with the motivation to push on through!

I do get scared yes but i do it on purpose because i try to immerse myself in the game as much as i can. Pitch black room and headphones at a volume close to being too loud when the action starts.

My mate on the other hand is too much of a pussy and plays scary games with winamp playing music.

The only games I was very scared while playing were Blair Witch Project (stopped playing it due to being scared as hell), Doom 3 (I remember playing this for like 2 months before I managed to complete the game).

I remember above games advised you to make your room dark etc so this is what I did, I played those games alone in total darkness :) I dunno why only those 2 games scared the hell out of me, nothing ever came close again to being this scary for me.

Once.....
Playing deadspace in the dark with headphones on, turned around and my wife was about to tap me on the shoulder to tell me she was going to bed.
God damn I jumped!
Oh God, I know that feeling, my Mrs did that about 4 times when I was playing Dead Space and it scared the crap out of me everytime!

The games themselves though don't usually scare me.
