If you haven't got any kids already you can't have it done anyway also your partner has to sign a form to say she agrees to it
It is free.
32, no kids, seriously considering it as I never want them. (cue "You'll change your mind", yadda yadda).
bit late to the party but thought i would post my misfortune,
i had it done a couple of years ago now (about 3 months after my second and final daughter was born) unfortunately it didn't go well.
during the Op it was uncomfortable when he was injecting the anaesthetic into the second side, the actual opening and first side was fine, very little pain of discomfort until he started the second side. i told the Dr this and he said is was normal and added more to numb the discomfort, this didnt really help but it was too late to go back, following being stitched up all seemed OK, although a bit uncomfortable as expected, and i got a lift home.
i wore supportive breifs as recommended and all seemed ok until the swelling started, within 2 days my tesites were black/blue, the size of a large grapefuit and rock solid (it seems excessive in description but they really were that big), i kept the breifs on and started wearing 2 pairs as extra support and didnt really have any discomfort other then the pulling due to weight... this was fine until i went to the toilet and felt a 'snap' as what must have been one of the stitches tearing and the heamatoma started bleeding from out my scrotum, it was an odd sense of releif but very worrying at the same time, i rung NHS direct as it was about 9pm my wife didnt drive and i wasnt going to drive to the hospital and was told they would call back, i laid on the couch with a towel and ended up falling asleep. i ended up going to hospital the next day and was told it was an infection and given antibiotics.
2 years on i still suffer from testicular ache on a regular basis, nothing that stops me getting on with normal activities but still annoying.
some advice following the op as one thing they never explained to me is that you start getting random lumps in your sack that dissapear after a few days, somthing to do with the seamen but ive never had one long enough to worry.

Wow! Virtually my experience in a nutshell.
(yours is worse however, I didn't get the grapefruit bit)
If you really don't want kids then get it done now.
Means if you start a relationship your cards are on the table straight away.
I'm getting it done in a few hours
