Anyone into RC?

This truck I sunk a ton of money into, a good 1k+

Used to be fairly into it when I was in the sixth-form. Had a Team Losi XXX buggy and a Yokomo YR4-M2 touring car. Excellent fun. Unfortunately my talent didn't match my enthusiasm, and nor did my budget... couldn't keep up with the cost of replacement tyres and suspension arms and jacked it in :( On reflection, a 9-turn motor was a bad idea for a beginner :D Definitely something I'd like to take up again when I have more disposable income. I'd probably go for nitro now, because charging battery packs is such a damn pain, even on a good charger.

My current cars.

Left is a Xray T2 009 with a Speedpassion 13.5 and a Norsram Matirx stock spec speed powered by a 5000MAH lipo. Raced at national events.

Right is my buggy which is a Team Losi XXX witha Novak 10.5 Nosram Matrix and a 3800MAh lipo. Soon to be raced nationally this summer.

Very fast and i love them to bits. I also have a helicopter which is something i do in my free time.

There are times when i wish i didn't have so many cars. It gets to the stage where i come to do some work on them, can't decide which one to start on and just go do something else instead lol

sorry the guts are hanging out. Had to re wire it all :(

Building Candy, I recognise that emaxx of yours. Did you have a website detailing it's build with a load of vids on there as well?

Yes thats me www.ukmonsters.co.uk

I see you got bitten by the Unlimited Engineering bug? VBS, Racer-X, Strobe slipper etc etc.

I think I might actually have a video of your e-maxx on my computer? If I'm thinking of the right truck it's in like a court of some type and the video is captioned about the slipper clutch, and how it was too tight?

Thats right yeh, I was running the old gorilla chassis then with a ofna dominator slipper. I since made a proper chassis and fitted an 1/8th center diff, should have done it years ago.

I have about 7 Tamiya TT01's - lol

...and two Rustler's! One running an EZRun brushless setup.

...all are currently in need of attention!

I fly RC helicopters.

I've got a T-Rex 600 nitro but I'm actually due to receive a T-Rex 500 electric today sometime (hurry up postie!).

Here's a pic of me flying the 600...

And here is a pic of the heli flying inverted...

Cheers.

The helicopter itself was £700. On top of that I needed to buy an exhaust which is £60, a transmitter which is £220 and a receiver which is around £60. Fuel is around £23 per gallon, too.

The electric which should be delivered today was £499 with 3 batteries which cost £129. A transmitter for an electric heli would be about £100.

:O With the amount you guys are spending you could race karts!

Have any of you considered giving that a go? (2 stroke, not lawnmower/generator engined zzz) Similar skills required - mechanical to prep the kart and hand eye co-ordination for the racing .... except you also need big balls :)

Never really thought about it to be honest but it would be quite cool. I imagine carting to be quite a bit more expensive in the long run though. I don't really know about RC cars but if they are anything like helicopters the initial outlay can be costly but once you have everything it's not too bad(unless you like crashing :p).

Thanks, I'm looking forward to flying it. I was looking at various 500 size electrics and the 500 ESP was a hard deal to beat. Other helicopters were around £150-200 more expensive so the T-Rex was a no brainer. The ESP is fully blinged up too.
