Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

Buy an 3000 series FE so you get it for RRP as your 1080Ti right now will get you £400-450 easy but will not once all this settles.

Is that in reply to me? If so, I don't plan to sell the 1080Ti once I upgrade so even less reason to rush. Will be putting it into the second PC to replace the lowly 1060 it has.

Do you want to lend it to me? I need something to tie me over in my brand new PC until this panic has subsided. :) Otherwise I will be on UHD 630.

Edit: I am actually bidding £650 for a gigabyte 3070 gaming OC on ebay, and weirdly no one has so far outbidded ...

would i like a new graphics card? yes! do i need a new graphics card? also yes. Am i willing to spend all my time waiting to rush and buy something at an overblown price? NAH it's a gpu it's not life or death.

Not given up yet, looking for either a 3080 or 6800XT. Signed up to a couple of stock alerts on discord. Had a few chances to get hold of a 3070s as they come through regularly.

Picked the wrong time to build a new rig, but it has been almost 10 years since the last build, time to retire the R9 380x

if you want an rtx 3080 at an acceptable price, most of you will need to wait until march or april, thats when nv says stock should improve. some ppl will settle for a rtx 3070 or rx 6000 series card instead, but it will take time for demand to fall.

you gotta question if its worth the money and time to buy graphics cards / CPUs that are difficult to produce, you are playing into AMD's / Nvidia's hands. especially when you could pay less and still enjoy games just as much.

turn off the framerate counter... good, now you can enjoy the game :D

I'm happy to wait, my EXGA1070 is doing ok, plus my 10 year old PSU will need replacing which adds to the cost and faff......I would like a new graphics cards but it's a case of not wanting the hassle of finding one, plus don't want to pay well over the odds, also others are in need more than me, although that's probably in vein as I guess a lot of these are going to scalpers or bitcoin miners.

I would not hold my breath! This is what Gibbo said in a previous thread!

"If demand continues and if supply remains low due to production being hammered due to increased demand from consoles, automotive, smart phones etc it’s going to be a very long time, 2022 earliest and maybe longer.

Far East cannot cope the world needs more manufacturing plants to cope, modern cars have increased demand on this sector massively and with demand at all time highs on components is not helping.

Mining is at all time highs and miners are buying stocks up worldwide leaving resellers and consumers without much needed GPUs and other parts.

BTC crashes hard things will improve but the projections are opposite and BTC could be 100k plus by Spring/Summer."

fingers crossed for dedicated ampere mining GPUs.

I really hate that most companies don't let you preorder... its all because they dont want to offer a decent price near rrp. maybe limit it to a set number of preorders per day / week?

so, instead all we see is out of stock pages, or tbc

Sod it, I've just spent my GPU money on new desk legs and solid oak top.
Decided I'm going to upgrade on of the spare rooms and move my gear there.
The Vega can live on a good while yet.

Well I think I may have unexpectedly landed a 3080FE earlier today.
Woke up early as I'm on nightshift, Decided to go to the vessels gym and use the spin bike and a notification popped up on the phone.
I had to go through three captchas and sign into the website and paypal and still managed to place an order. Thats the payment been accepted anyway so will see if it actually gets shipped.
