Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

You could buy a 3090 for 1400 on nvidias website yesterday.

3080ti will be 1k'ish

Yup for now, I'm sure nvidia won't have many 3090s for sale right after the 3080ti is up. ;).. Like amd right now on their store no cards and look at the aib prices £1000 now for a 6800xt and £1400 for 6900xt. It's all got silly as the MSRP prices were never real.

The reference cards went quick, partner boxed, 6800 reference design went for £599
Yeah I was refreshing the page and didn't even see the partner cards come in stock. Must have been double quick :p

But there's still the 0.000000000000000000000000001% chance to get them from AMD, where the 6800XT is that price or thereabouts.

Well, a man can dream. Will be nothing short of a bona fide miracle if I get one from AMD :p

I managed to grab a 6800.
Refreshed at 3PM and bought it straight away.

I'd be surprised if mining is causing much of the shortage. Even during the last proper mining boom in 2017 when it was actually possible to make decent money, I could still buy plenty of 1070s for £230-240 (XX70 card for £230 eh, those were the days)

There's no way a UK hobby miner is paying £700-1000 for a card that will need at least a years worth of mining to even stand a chance of paying itself off.

Who else would be buying a 5700 XT for £500-£600?

The only explanation is that it has a hashrate which almost matches a 2080 Ti or 3070.

Likely quite a few people are not taking electricity usage into account, some probably not even paying for it. I could mine in two different places without paying electricity if I kept it relatively discrete (8 card setup for instance).

Im close to giving up tbh. gonna see if a rtx 3070 FE drop happens in the next week, beyond that, I think its a huge waste of time (or, at least my patience has run out).

Maybe ill check again at the end of feb otherwise, as the preorder numbers on other websites are slowly being fulfilled - for the rtx 3070.

This is my feeling too. I was so tempted by a 3060ti but at £500, I'd rather try my luck for a 3070FE.

AMD 6800 series cards showing on sale at Overclockers for me

They're making the gpu's yeah, but their actual reference boards at MSRP are scarce to say the least. The only reason ocuk had any at all today was they had stockpiled them from late last year, and even then they were only the 6800 variant (non xt) and overpriced vs what amd sell them for.
