Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

Im wondering whats going to happen with this new reality about to hit the world. Apperantly USA printed around 40% of $ this year. I dont know the real numbers, not sure any one does, but if history shows us something, then the works is going into a hyper inflation, Unless USA economy to big for inflation. After all its worlds currency.

A lot of the alerts seem to be "false positives" these days. You get an alert, you click the link, the website is OOS and there was never any opportunity to buy anything.

Just another nail in the coffin :D

Feeling you. Ryzen 3600 and rx 460 here.

I mostly play old games/mods etc, but right now Stalker Anomaly gives me 100% vs 6% usage XD

I was so close to upgrading in October, but thought i'd wait for RDNA2. Hah, good call there.
That CPU is fine for 1440p and above so no need to spend more although if gaming at 1080p it would struggle quite a bit. Just need a faster GPU to up the eye candy :)

I've been trying to come up with an upgrade for my wife's GPU for about 8 months now, in an ideal world I would upgrade to a 3070ti when it comes and she would have mine but there just isn't any chance of either of those things happening this year, I can't justify the inevitable £300 price hike when something suitable does hit.

Unfortunately the prices have already gone up, only way to get something at a reasonable price (before pandemic prices) now is getting lucky with an FE card.

Speaking of FE cards, I had a look at nVidia's site. Seeing the original MSRPs of cards makes me feel a little ill knowing what retailers and private sellers are scalping them for right now.

I have recently purchased a Series X, having given up trying to get a GPU, which was the final component I needed for my shiny new build. It's a really good unit and of course Gamepass is amazing value. £449 for that seemed sensible when the cost of GPU's as the current levels. My heart will always be with my PC, but for now if I want to game at good fidelity and frame rates I have had to prostitute myself to the dark said and become a filthy peasant console gamer. Be under no illusion, I will return to the PC Master race when I can.

Console does seems like the way to go at the moment providing you can get one that is. Shame really as this is putting a lot of people off PC gaming. My nephew is getting into PC gaming for a whole now but at current prices, he is struggling. Like most he just needs a decent GPU :(

I've been really lucky it seems and should really count my blessings, I was jammy enough to get a 3080 on release day and was just able to get a 3070 FE on the last drop for a project I'm not sure if I'm going ahead with now. Though I was hitting refresh like a madman. You can get them it seems but you've gotta go like a madman possessed!

Your F5-fu must be way more powerful than mine... there comes a point when you've just put too many hours into finding something that feels like it just isn't there. If I'd worked those wasted hours I could probably have paid scalper prices (not that I ever would).

I've started thinking about a 'cheap' 2060 (£670) or 3060 (£1k) gaming laptop to tide me over... and then sell it on Fleabay if / when the desktop GPU market sorts itself out.

I haven't owned a console since the original PlayStation circa 1995. I wanted a 3080 but unusually for me, didn't grab one on release day, decided I wanted one around mid Jan and signed up for FE stock alerts, they always seemed to happen when I was otherwise engaged, but last week it went off and I just happened to have my phone in my hand, clicked the link and bingo, got one. Like, its not actually that difficult, just need a bit of luck that it goes off when you happen to not be busy and not like you go to look at your phone and find out one went off 20 minutes ago.

I've managed with my previous gen card till now, so still nothing would have me thinking of getting a console as a stop gap as to me it would just have been a waste of money in itself.

Don't waste time looking, get a FE part alert on your phone, if it happens to go off when you are free then you get one, its taken me 3 months but I now have a 3080 that I paid RRP for. Total amount of time wasted looking at "out of stock" messages is probably less than 20 minutes.

Managed to snag an Aorus 6700 XT for £800 from an online retailer. Overpaid on MSRP by a substantial amount, sure, but that's the nature of the market at the moment: it's already an increase of £50 from last week when I couldn't even get it into my basket in time. Things are only going to keep getting worse, so I may look back at this in a year and laugh at the "good deal" I got.

Regardless, I finally have a new GPU arriving tomorrow!
