Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

Mate, just seen somewhere with two drops today. 6800 reference at 700 quid and a 6800XT AIB at 900. 900! That's 50% more than the reference card!

I've been holding out for this OCUK drop for weeks now, but if what I've seen today is a sign of what's to come, my current card will have to be my best friend for the foreseeable.

Yup, got a notification, had 6800 in the cart but as soon as I confirmed cc details, it was sold out.

You were going to bite at a 6800 Reference for 700? Thats 32% over RRP.

700 vs 469 for a 3070FE is a 50% mark-up for 13% performance increase.

Who even needs ebay for scalping. Times are cray.

Yup, my preference is for a 6800 series card as I have seen some occasions in MSFS where I am maxing out vram, not even at 4K. Set a budget of £700 for 6800 or £800 for 6800 XT. Would prefer to pay less but just the way the market is at the moment and Brexit won’t make it any kinder.

Aha, gotcha ya. I had a 6900XT for 1138, but couldn't stomach the mark-up on RRP and had that go back when I copped a 3070FE.

For my sorta gaming its a 6800 at RRP, a 6800XT at 10% mark-up tops or a 3080FE at RRP.

As we can clearly see, I will own this 3070FE forever. That's what the FE stands for, hahaha!

I’m actually fine with the 3070, it’s a great performer but the 8gb vram is always at the back of my mind even though it is rarely an issue in the sim. I’ve seen 65fps at times at 3440x1440 high end settings which is way higher than my previous 2070.

Yep. Quite a few 3070's about at the moment. Hopefully prices might start to stabilize soon? Even noticed 3080 staying in stock for 5-10 minutes.. AMD still AWOL though!

The good news is graphics cards aren't consumables, once they are out there, they stay out there. This means, it may take a while, but eventually everything will settle down (despite it being horrible, this pandemic is not a world ending event).

The bad news is, the dirty, greedy miners want about ten of them so can they can buy themselves a gold toilet.

Managed to get a PNY 3080 today for £820, silly amount of money for GPU imo but hey ho. Got order confirmed, they then cancelled my order and told me "sorry our mistake was out of stock" yeah right I literally saw it go live in stock @ £828. They then pumped up the price to £1080 (LOL price) and re-listed it, some mug bought it also. This is what we are dealing with.

Saw that. Dodgiest looking website I have seen in a long time, and that was before their crazy mark-up.

Edit: Palit was the nasty looking card not the PNY. Be as well wait a month or two now. We should see more products kicking about by then (I hope)

Me Too, I was going to skip the 3000 due to the disaster launch but I got a 3090 FE the other day on a whim after a few days of checking the NV Store at random times.

A 3080 is harder to get right now.

I've lost all sense of what "normal" prices actually are, so when they even do come up for sale I don't know if it's a good price. Can someone summarise what approximate prices we should be looking at if things were relatively normal. Obviously due to demand, then paying slightly higher prices is expected, but it's hard to understand what the prices should be as when you go to the websites, because everything is out of stock, often the prices are not even listed so I don't know how much more say a 3070 should be over a 3060ti.

Also, if OCUK are going to get stock, what is the procedure for getting on any waiting list, or is is a free for all and open to abuse from bots and scalpers? Is there any priority access for loyal OCUK customers who have shopped with them for years, some over a decade? Or loyal forum members?

Nvidia Stores FE's keeps the price the same (they do go down over time like when the Titan Xp launched vs later with the StarWars version the price dropped on them all).

A 3090 FE is £1399, do not pay more elsewhere.
