Anyone non-panic buying?

lol I was jokingly going to suggest that. my dad was a builder and him and his mate were doing some repairs on a sewage plant years ago and he said you have never seen such incredible toms (and he grows good ones himself). my dad's mate filled his bags but my dad - despite admitting they would have been perfectly fine - didn't fancy it. besides my mum would not have been happy.
I would absolutely not be surprised if a lot of them make it to small indie corner shops however.

Heinz is over rated anyway.
their beans are watery junk. I would rather have Sainsbury's own brand if I have to but Branston beans kick all their asses imo (£3.70 for 6 cans tho so no longer exactly "cheap") ... and the Heinz sauce is ok. but I prefer Sainsbury's own brand.

only Heinz thing I would remotely consider buying is their cream of tomato soup. I won't lie it's my favourite but only when on sale. Sainsbury's own brand is still ok.

I get stuff that’s the cheapest. A lot of it’s all the same IMO.

Agree about the beans, Branston wins. Ketchup still Heinz for me but not tried many others, did try Tesco and wasn't impressed.

Branstons is more expensive than Hienz in my local Tesco once you do the multi buy deal. Was just as good when I gave them a go a while back.

Are we pretending that different recipes are not made by the same supplier? The only thing specific to the retailer, other than that recipe, is the cost they charge.

try Sainsbury's. not the value but their normal stuff. I genuinely prefer it.

Annoyingly Sainsbury's own brand takes, which in some cases come out the same factory..., are closer to the original version of some stuff than the latest incarnation of the branded version... Coco Pops for instance the Kellogg's tastes nothing like it did when I was a kid and they hide behind people in taste trials said the new recipe it was just as good or better while the Sainsbury's one is about 95% of the original.

trust me I have a friend who works in the business and I am well aware that some products are essentially the same ..... but some *are* different to others. if you think Branston and heinz beens are the same you need a taste bud inspection. also the consistency is totally different.
edit I just reread your post. (sorry pre coffee). so the only difference is the recipie AND what they charge .... ok maybe, but isn't that precisely the point. the recipie is what changes the taste

Can't get 'em the shelves have been stripped bare by the time I get there the only beans left are the expensive Heinz stuff. They're like gold dust
store specific I guess. we do click and collect for all none fresh goods and I go in-store for all my fresh stuff. for the last 2 weeks all our click and collect was filled. it was the fresh stuff that was difficult.
as for whoever said heinz.are now cheaper than Branston.... not where I live.

£5 for 6 heinz (and that is reduced from £5.50)

£3.70 for 6 Branston (and that is not on offer at moment)

Yeah Branston beans have always been cheaper than Heinz here. Wasn't so long ago it was 4 tins for £2...
I thought the Aldi beans were ok last time I tried them.

Plus bean carcasses (bean skins separated from bean). Never seen this with other brands, or it’s just one bean in a can

All supermarket Weetabix is made by Weetabix. As a friend’s dad worked the factory and had pallets of unfolded boxes for the various supermarkets.

Though wish supermarkets did their own Weetabix minis

when I was at uni Aldi beans were.... 12p iirc and bread was 7 or 8p. was good cheap student food. Aldi beans on toast.
(and a half bottle of Aldi vodka and some orange juice was a cheap starter before going out)

Breakfast is the best start to the day.

It's not just cereals. There are a small number of firms large enough to produce the scale required to fill the shelves you (literally you) stock each day. You should visit a factory or two and watch them switch the lines, it's seriously impressive stuff :)
