Anyone non-panic buying?

So like the comment bellow a pretty pointless comment, that is unless I'm not seeing how the source effects the validity.

You just quoted me saying "I wasn't insinuating the graphic was wrong", then question how the source effects validity, which I never said it did. I'm not sure what is confusing here.

Is there some GD rule that every post has to have an ulterior meaning, or is there some form of gatekeeping as to what makes a comment 'pointless'? Either way, bored, enjoy.

This is Murphy, he lives just to argue semantics.

I went shopping today. M&S, Lidl and Aldi.

I did get some tomatoes in the end, but they're **** & small. Even though I bought them in Aldi they weren't cheap either. That was the only shop that had any. Stupidly I didn't buy eggs in M&S because they had none at all in the Aldi I visited last.

To do all this I had to drive about 20 miles in total. This was all spurred by my local Co-Op now charging £7.65 for a litre of olive oil. I bought a litre of posh EV olive oil in M&S for £6 and a cheap 750ml of Spanish EV oil in Aldi for about £3.50. Cocktail sticks in M&S for £2.50 was my LOL moment.

All three shops' offerings were somewhat **** and/or expensive. Range of things seems to be getting smaller and smaller (where's the sauerkraut gone?) Although Aldi did provide some good stuff. I'll be going back to my local Co-Op for the foreseeable, I know when they do the reductions.

I stopped buying Heinz ketchup when it went over £2.50, now £4.00. That is just profiteering when Aldi sells equal quality at half the price.

I expect £5.00 with an excuse for the price of tomatoes now.

If the source had no effect on the validity then why mention it? I'm not sure what's confusing about making pointless comments.

Why would there be some GD rule and why is that even relevant, am i not allowed to ask someone why they think the source is relevant in regards to how valid something is. What are you the GD police or something, if you don't like someone asking you why you think the source is relevant then don't question the source. I could understand questioning the source if it was a complex subject, if it was an opinion, or if there was some sort of dispute to what was being conveyed but there's not AFAIK.

This is 200sols, making pointless comments about someone to someone else because she/he doesn't have the guts to actually address the person they're talking about. :)

e: GD does make me laugh, so much bandwagoning and so many people too scared to actually address the person they're talking about, people incapable of refuting the argument so they go down the passive aggressive route of personal attacks to other people. So many Karen's. :D

Apparently the Aldi one is pretty good, got some but not tried it yet. Given up on Heinz at those prices.

Read my thread of Heinz. Ripping off thickos who ‘got to have Heinz’ which most of their lines are inferior. At my work I can buy three cans of our own label soup for the cost of ONE Heinz! Plus a bit of change.

My home is a Heinz free home.

As I said above I expected this to happen fairly quickly as the purchasing supply chain people did their thing.
Again as I said to me the only part Brexit has played in this is the ability to have reacted faster via continental europe was removed.
Its still the most likely way we would resolve the situation but its just not possible to be as flexible as we were pre 22.

My gut feels is you will still see some shortages but they will become increasingly localise and sporadic for the next month.
A while back I was chatting with one of the Sainsbury's staff as I was complaining that the bag of tangerines I picked out of the basket had a mouldy one in still in the shop. I accept this happens and always has done but it is painfully obvious that much of the fresh produce has a worse sell by date on it that it used to be. the guy apologised of course and I got another bag but he said in the last year or so it's not arriving in thier store until much later. sometimes they were unpacking lorries and it was having to be reduced off the bat. I suggested it was convenient timing that it was now they decided to remove sell by dates on much of their produce. No comment was the response.

No more Heinz stuff for me either.

All gone.
Heinz is over rated anyway.
their beans are watery junk. I would rather have Sainsbury's own brand if I have to but Branston beans kick all their asses imo (£3.70 for 6 cans tho so no longer exactly "cheap") ... and the Heinz sauce is ok. but I prefer Sainsbury's own brand.

only Heinz thing I would remotely consider buying is their cream of tomato soup. I won't lie it's my favourite but only when on sale. Sainsbury's own brand is still ok.
