Anyone sleep with a weapon?

Anyone breaking in would be asked to wait while I climb up into the loft and get the 12 bore out.

When I was a kid I went through a brief phase where I would sleep with a quite realistic looking cap gun that I had gotten on holiday under my pillow. My mum kept moving it each morning and I would just move it right back again. I dunno what the hell I thought I was gonna do if someone broke in. As if a burglar would be scared off by a little kid waving a toy gun at them.

I dunno why I started doing it in the first place. must have got it into my head that someone might break into the house. I stopped doing it after a few months anyway.

A 12 gauge shotgun with blank cartridges. No person in their right mind would hang about if they hear one going off as they're as loud as the real ones. Also no problem with actually killing someone innocent by mistake.

Theres not a lot of old men in my business, paranoia is what keeps me alive, am taking no chances, every room in my house is armed, you break in and I'll bath in your ****ing blood, and if one day my time is up, let me say to you, if you think I'm just going sit there and beg for my life, then you are some sort of ****.

We get the odd power cut so the other half has a torch next to the bed, but it's one of those huge metal maglite things so I reckon he could probably give someone a good wallop with it if necessary! Don't imagine we will ever need it, and we don't have it there for security, but yeah, think it would make a good weapon!

Ive got a recurve bow above my bed 2 pcp air rifles beside me and a good few knifes (5-6) in my bed side drawer (love the new spyderco;)). also have a few swords in my living room some are just replicas and would just snap! But not for self defence no ones ever broken in or do i expect them too! Anyway the law will mess you up if you use a weapon against and intruder. And my dogs are useless !

I don't but where I live have strong doors anyway I've seen the police raid one of my neighbours before and it took them over 10 minutes to get the door bashed in with one of those ramming things lol.

There's no way someone could get in here without waking me up.
If I were paranoid enough to have a weapon near my bed then I would stick a dumbell bar at the side of me.
but TBH if two guys come charging into your house with base ball bats are you really going to fight back? because if you can't take them down or scare them of they are going to beat the hell out of you.
I don't think I've got anything worth a long hospital visit or worse so I would probably defend myself if it came to it but I would tell them to take what they can carry and leave and hope it never came down to a fight

ofcourse I'm picturing fully grown men in balaclavas here if it were teenagers or adults without weapons then sure I would have a go as they would likely leg it anyway.

Kitchen knife on the bedside table. Yes I live in a crap hole.

No intent to use it, and never been in a situation where I even have to threaten someone with it, but it makes me feel a-bit safer.

I used to have an M1A2 Abrams Tank but it was a bit too noisy and awkward to climb over, it was also notoriously bad for stealing the duvet every time the turret turned.

I live in the middle of nowhere and it's a nice area but a hockey stick has resided by my bedside since I was old enough to swing it.
