Anyone tried AudioSurf? New game on steam . .

the latest update is complete BS.

firstly, it reset my custom sensitivity, which is going to take ages to adjust to again after so much play, and secondly it supposedly fixed the mouse cursor dissapearing bug. I had never noticed this bug until after playing my FIRST song following the update, thereby costing me a high score because I couldn't log in with no mouse.

just been playing some classical stuff on this and some of it you can get ridiculously high scores - I haven't actually finished the file yet, but playing Pointman Elite on movement 2 of Beethoven's 9th Symphony and some of the runs of reds are crazy! I keep getting blocked up with whites though :(

edit: first complete run and I got 172055 - just need to get that up to 400k and it'll be at 30k ppm :)

Aren't there "open source" versions of a lot of the great composers classics? Perhaps we could link to them and have a mini OCUK classical league ;)

I imagine there are, since the actual music is mostly no longer copyrighted - It's just that most of the recordings are - I'm using a Toscanini recording I got from my mum - but there must be free versions about cos there's oggs of a lot of classical stuff on wikipedia.

This game is mental, always liked games that you can play listening to my own music and this one requires music to work :p

It's got me listening to all sorts music again like Clapton, Pantera, Skynyrd, White Zombie and now im on to my all time favourite album Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction :D ... which i have to say is the hardest yet. I cant do the multi coloured tetris-type races, im crap at multi-tasking (i fear my brain may explode) :( But am totally loving the Mono Ninja and that Ironmode thing which i only noticed earlier.

Any GNR fans out there.... give Nightrain a go on Ninja Mono ;) oh and Think About You.... that songs way tooooo fast

Ahaha! :) This is the best post i have ever seen on OcUK! i love the fact that you were totally sucking at the game and were loving it!

Yeah erm, I'm a bit too overly happy when I'm drunk usually .
Best post on ocuk? If you say so.

blimey you like your smileys when drunk

and take that...
Guess so :p.

Yeah erm, I was drunk :o, although I must admit I like that song, it aint bad.

Just bought Audiosurf this afternoon and paid for it through steam. I went through the tutorial and it says the demo has expired so I cant play it. Am I missing something

Sorry, I just had to beat your scores :p
Yes i see http://www.audio-surf.com/gamesite_...6&league=2&aname=guns+n+roses&sname=nightrain .... took ya time ..... but you didnt use Mono Ninja did ya ;)

Im afraid i wont be trying to beat you anytime soon, this game is way tooooooo addictive - Yesterday I played it for about 12 hours straight  ... so er thats no more Audiosurf for me! Ive not been this addicted to a game since Final Fantasy 7 which i managed to clock 27 hours in one sitting

I can see this game turning millions of people in to zombified couch potatoes, sat in a comfy armchair in front of their media pc and giant plasma screen mashing up their brains with this ridiculously fast but easily accessible game :p

God help the lot of you ;)

As much as i love this game, i feel there are so many flaws in the point scoring system its driving me crazy.

First and foremost, i really enjoy playing mono elite because its fast, simple and incredibly satisfying to get stealth. However, even doing the best mono round you possible can, getting stealth and clean finish and matches it simply is not possible to ever beat a good run from the other characters. I just made a run through Joe Satriani - friends, Ironmode, stealth, clean finish, match 11 - 86,204. Top of the scoreboard is pointman, match 11, red and yellow, 93,539 ,What is the point in offering players different tactics if they are not even.

The 30% bonus for stealth is way, way too small, The 25% for clean finish is way, way too big.

I dont play pointman much which is really how the game was designed to be played because i find the point scoring system of making 'clusters' to be total crap. There are much better ways the player could score points, such as collecting as many of one color as possible, if the player hits a different color their current resovior is scored and removed starting again with the new color.

Best $10 spent on a game... love it.

Can't stop experimenting with genre's, folk, classical, it just works !

the bonus for stealth is practically 55% anyway - how hard is it to finish clean when you've got stealth?

And it's way harder to get clean if you're playing pointman and there's no stealth equivalent (unless you count the 10% possible from getting 95% of red AND yellows)

I think it's pretty balanced - just man up a bit and play with more colours.

Harder things should get higher scores.

Does anyone else get stuttering? not all the time but every so often i get major lag, its getting rather annoying as it causing me to hit the ones i dont want!
There was an update that was suppose to increase performance but seems to have made it worse!
I would have thought a AMD 6000x2 and Ati 3850 4gb ram would be able to play this game quite easily :(

Theres still quite a few problems with this game, I just tried Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult on Ninja Mono and the track curved so tightly at several points that you couldn't see the track at all :(

You do know Ninja Mono is meant to be hard, right?

Yeah but surely theres a difference between hard and impossible right? I mean how can you avoid things if you can't see them? It'd be like if occasionally on Guitar Hero they flipped the fretboard over and said 'go on, guess whats coming next'
