Anyone tried AudioSurf? New game on steam . .

the bonus for stealth is practically 55% anyway - how hard is it to finish clean when you've got stealth?

And it's way harder to get clean if you're playing pointman and there's no stealth equivalent (unless you count the 10% possible from getting 95% of red AND yellows)

I think it's pretty balanced - just man up a bit and play with more colours.

Harder things should get higher scores.

'Harder' has nothing to do with it, its all about flow.

Flow is basically a zone where skill level matches difficulty and is what makes a game fun. If these two things are not in balance it is not possible to achieve flow.

When i play mono, i find it very easy to achieve 'flow'. That is, if i play a hard song, I can raise my skill to compensate and enjoy the game just as much as if i was playing a slower, easier song.

In any other mode however, i simply cannot achieve flow. Even on the learner characters, there is never a point where the difficulty of the task matches my ability. I simply do not understand what the point is, or what you are supposed to do.

Essentially what im describing here is the learning curve. I was able to learn and understand the mono characters with relative ease. I still fail to comprehend the pointman characters however. This is not my own stupidity, this is a design flaw.

Hey guys, sorry I've been away for a while! Sorted out my Unix assignment and got above a first :D

I'll be updating names tomorrow evening and in order to spice things up how about running a mini competition between ourselves? I was thinking each person gets to pick a song and we all compete on that song. Let the song run its course for about 4 days or so?

Everybody will get a turn and I'll put a star next to each persons name once they've selected a song. I think it would be a great idea to spice things up :D

I'd appreciate some feedback and maybe we can fire something up?

it's clearly not a design flaw though, cos plenty of other people get it and enjoy it and get really high scores on it.

@ Scoutfu (can't remember forum name) - Don't worry, someone used Pusher and absolutely whomped my Nightrain score :( I'll have to get that back asap.

Im right up for that. Going to be quite difficult ensuring we all have the same songs, unless people only take part if they have or can acquire that song.

Downloaded from Steam on the advice of this thread. So cheap, why not. Oh. My. Goodness. How can something so simple be so much fun? And because of the music, the fun could be endless and I keep diggin out old tracks I haven't listened to in years.

Anyone got close to me Ninja Mono score yet :P

I hope they sort out the tables and give each character their! I absolutely hate the colour ones, they dont interest me at all, yes i love tetris and i love wipeout (mmmmm wipeout, how i miss you).... but i dont wanna play them at the same time! For one, i fear they may induce an eppy

SEPERATE TABLES FOR MONO INNIT! :D Make it fair, there's no way i can compete with you multitasking youngsters!

I used to love Ninja Mono, but I find Pointman Elite to be far more challenging and fun these days :)

It's more about strategy and thinking than dexterity with the mouse.

Dark_shadow: Sounds like a great idea, I'd be interested in signing up.

And as for the debate between ninja and 'normal' characters, I find I use both. Often, I play thorugh a song first with one of the ninja characters, see how well I do compared to the scores. Then based on how far away I am from the top, I either replay it, turn on ironmode and replay it, or switch to eraser :P

Pendulum- Blood Sugar is pretty intense! :P I personally only play the mono modes, as the others require to much coordination for me !

This tune is hilarious... If anyone else has it them see if you can beat this!

How can I make a vid of it?

I can't help thinking that this would make a perfect iPhone/iTouch game after seeing the iPhone SDK Launch event. It would have accesss to all of the music on the iPhone and the iPhone could easily handle the graphics. I think the developers have a great opportunity here.

After seeing Super Monkey Ball on the iPhone audiosurf wouldn't be a problem in terms of graphics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a6-cUOPoLY
