Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Not consider getting a Netgear D7000 which is a nighthawk router coupled with a Broadcom modem similar to the HG612. Ive been using one for a few months and it has been flawless.

Sadly they only let me pick from the poorly stocked shelves - It was bunch of pretty cheap non wireless-ac stuff, and the nighthawk.

so... this has gone very quiet. Either they fixed the issues for the majority, or the majority stopped using it.

I guess they fixed it.. mine has 37 days uptime, <1500 crcs over that period, on a line with poor snr. G.inp up and down.

In my case, not fixed. In order to keep it stable and not welcome DLM intervention on fastpath I either have to raise the SNRM target to at least 10dB or I force interleaved with at least an INP of 2 and a delay of 8ms. I don't use this device anymore, it's sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I'm using a Draytek Vigor 2860Vac but it appears to have two bugs, 1) the connection seems to have an INP of 1.5 with a delay of 8ms on the downstream and this seems to be caused by the Draytek, 2) the router crashes often if I enable UPnP with my multiple static IP address allocation (much like the Fritz!Box 7490 did - maybe the same problem?).

31 Days uptime on mine, around 500 crc errors in that time. I'm just on adsl and both up and down are showing interleaved though I still have as good a speeds as ever.

I got rid of my Asus too. Quite happy with my Netgear D7000. If only the Asus had its reliability.
I get about 7Mb extra download speed with the netgear compared to the Asus.

I just think anyone who wanted a serious piece of hardware and thought they were getting it with this product, along with the promise's of OC and Asus that they would work together to fix the issue, the majority have just given up...

I've been lucky that ever since the ESNP feature mines been stable ever since.

Its possibly a couple of MB down on sync compared to the HH5. I used to get 69-70 with the HH5 and now after recovery from the DLM drops, I've been stuck on 67 for the last 3 months or so at a SNR of 6.8. But to be honest I don't notice and don't care about such a minor difference due to all the other features I have gained compared to the HH.

Hi guys. Is this router really that bad? I'm looking for a modem router for my talk talk broadband with a possibility for a fibre upgrade in the future. I stream movies over WiFi using plex and xbmc. Should I go for Asus router or not?

It's ghastly for a lot of VDSL2 (FTTC) users. I've moved over to a Draytek Vigor 2860, though there are many other better choices than the ASUS.

Avoid the Asus if I were you. There is a new Billion device due out in the next few months (apparently), you have the netgear d7000 which I have and works a treat, fritzbox devices and a few others. A good few options appearing now.

Hmm well i changed/downgraded my fibre service (with bt my perfect 80/20 had gone down over the last year to 50/19 :( and the price was pretty crazy) now i am on sky fibre which other then the intial hit was coming in at 39/9.8ish so pretty much perfect however without changing anything on my router it has now gone to 35.91/9.53 and my ping has gone from between 12-15 to 26 which is quite sad. (saddest thing is after i switched i realised that talk talk would have done an 80/20 for 10 pound a month :( and when i contacted sky they said they dont do deals on the higher fibre and it would be 30 pounds a month.... even more expensive then i would have been paying if i stayed with bt and it is really sad when i think that works out at 2 pound per extra mb of download/upload )

Anyway the router has been rock solid for along time now but not i cant seem to get it to go back to fastpath is this perhaps sky forceing me to interleaved?

I woukd nt be so sure that the device is causing you no problems. Is there any others you can try like a hg612? It may be creating enough errors to hold the connection at an interleaved state. Possibly even more when you were saying your speeds have been dropping a little. It's hard to tell without seeing your stats/error seconds etc.

The device is fine i think it is just sky messing around (evne though its not a fresh fibre install they might still be doing things i am now out of the 10 day period but you never know :P )

Here is my stats btw

I've been away from home for 6 months due to a family illness.

On my return I found I had almost 90 days uptime and very little errors (crc) that I was suffering from before. Quickly updated the firmware and here are todays stats.

The only problem I seem to be experiencing now is the wifi is dropping a bit.

Well i discovered this issue the other day if i enable either of these two my internet stops working...

Which confuses me cause i thought sky had enabled these just like bt...
