Anyone watching the Download Festival webcast?

Yes it is, because its very commercial. Which cannibal is not, not many people know there songs. a lot do, a lot dont, where most people know of linkin park and my chemical romance.
Doesn't really matter, tons of people will go regardless and a large amount of the Metal community sure as hell know of Cannibal Corpse.

People already know about Download and have for ages it's not a new thing where you need a well known band to hopefully bring in the crowds.

I reckon Slipknot might be one of the headliners for Download 2008 anyway.

Cannibal Corpse are not headline material though. Not for a festival the size of Download or Grasspop etc anyway.

Don't think Spliknot will headline Download either.

I don't see how they aren't headline material, signature probably makes it look like I'm a huge fan but not really, still I'd say they are fit for the job.

Slipknot could headline, since 2008 is also their comeback year and iirc they got a good reception at past Downloads.

I just pray to god a band like Trivium doesn't headline. (Or BMTH, ugh)

there not headline material, and i dont reckon they ever will be, there not worthy of it. its the big names who should be headlining not more underground bands.

slipknot wont headline either. people have grown out of that too. reckon we could see sabbath headlining or megadeth.

They are not popular enough to headline a large festival and never will be. An in many peoples opinion not good enough either, but that's irrelevant really when MCR are there :p

Seriously hope Slipknot don't headline. I've seen them loads of times now, they used to get everywhere. On their own, a few times at Download, once on tour with Slayer... To be honest they are boring and seem to have got worse over the years. There are also much larger bands (in popularity not amount of members :p) and better headliners around. Pretty sure Maiden will be headlining again next year. As said above though, with Live Nation you never know!

As for Trivium or BMTH... I agree, please god no! haha

I always thought Cannibal Corpse were pretty popular, oh well. :p

I can see Maiden headlining, maybe Slayer will too. Children Of Bodom may well be picked for headlining, possibly.

I'm sure Download will have noticed that the crowds for MCR were far smaller than the crowds for bands like KoRN, Dragonforce, Velvet Revolver...etc and they weren't headliners.
Can't see MCR getting picked again tbh, or Linkin Park.

would love opeth, job for a cowboy, sikth, strapping young lad, lamb of god, to be playing next year. and many more i can think of.

and Gallows!

Live Nation never learn. They have done it time and time again.

It's also the second time Linkin Park have headlined the festival. I'd agree them and MCR won't be there next year though.

Oh right. :p

Maiden, Slayer and Lamb Of God would be good headliners, or maybe Maiden, Slayer and Dream Theater, some of the biggest names of metal there. (and around for a long time)

Awesome weekend got back last night

Lamb of god were awesome

But my favorites for the weekend were ill nino & killswitch engage, papa roach put on a decent show too.

Really naffed off that korn wern't on main stage missed them cause we couldn't get into the flipping tent

Even bands like Adien had more people at the main stage than MCR did.

Liked linkin parks performance it was decent & from what i saw the crowd enjoyed it.

Next year i think we'll see slipknot, in flames(not headlining though), possibly ac/dc? never know! :P

Sunburn, ripped trousers, smelt foul, and seriously out of pocket. Top fun all round.

Korn should have blatently been on the main stage. I don't if they'd requested the tent (JD did say something about "this is where we started out" during the gig) or the organisers just thought it was technically a bigger spot than second/third/fourth last spot on the main, but the place was packed for them. We sat outside on the hill next to the X-Fighters jumps and just enjoyed what we could hear.

Got right up front for Megadeth, Dragonforce, Chimaira and Killswitch (found it was well easy to get in round the side of the stage instead of fighting through the crowds further back), who were all ace.

Also, it was funny how many people just left after Run To The Hills. We were outside the main entrance with a few drinks, and people just started streaming out after that and the fake finish. Even after Bruce came out and was all "ahaha obviously an encore innit", no-one went back in.

the absurd amount of crowd surfers during 'My Last Serenade' didnt actualy hear the song because I spent the entire time chucking people or getting kicked in the head, even howard said... "oh my god" its his fault aswell because he asked for them lol
You're kidding me, that was the best bit. I had tons of people pass over me and I still followed the song. That and the ton of pits and the general crowd madness made KSE my favourite band of the weekend.

i was there all weekend, had a great time
highlights for me were korn,Hellyeah and maiden
korn should have been on the main stage, but got in the tent, a lot couldn't and had to listen outside

You were obviously lucky, because i wasnt the only one not impressed.

Ive never crowd surfed in the years ive been going to gigs and have always hated it, id rather get my ass kicked in the pit then have some **** kick me in the head from behind.

Do you like there new album? I think its their worst to date.

Korn were brilliant Joey drumming for them made an improvment I reckon :p the Main tent is faaaar better for any band than the main stage, it sounds 100% better.

Just out of interest, what do you have against Bring Me the Horizon? I quite like their music and they did a reasonable show... But I'd never heard of them before and was surprised to see such an unknown band so far up the bill.
