Anything wrong with this job application?

Yes am aware of that, thats not why I am confused though. I thought the guy was fair in his statement, I may not agree or disagree with it but it was mannered in its structural content.

Anyhow there we go. :p :D

Would you like me to remove that fence from your rear end* Mr Spacky? :p

*not as painful as it sounds.

True the guy was making a fair comment, but the forums that represent the company isn't the right place to make it.

True, potential buyers might of been looking at these forums and now have decided not to buy from this website.

A point I picked up on was that the applicant seemed happy to take whatever he could get.
It came across to me as being a bit "I'd like to apply for..., and whilst you're at it I'll go for that job as well. Ah what the hell lets go for all three"

If I were the employer, I would like the applicant to know what they want and not just take the "I'll do whatever you give me" attitude.

Anyone agree? Spie?

Also, if your spelling is of a poor standard, use Google. Any incorrrect words are corrected and offered to you at the top of the search results. Copy/Paste/Done.

I thought the whole point of such forums was to have free discussion, whether people agree with your viewpoint or not, their viewpoint is as valid as anyone else's. Like it or not, the guy did have a point, however the OP possessed no personal information whatsoever, so we could be discussing anyone's application here. Hell, we could even be discussing a non-existent application and this whole thing is a ruse to drum up a bit of conversation!

Yep and if enough people have spelled it wrong in webpages or there is an Americanization [sic] it will either confirm the wrong spelling or give you then American way instead.

Yep, the forums have and probably always be a place to have your say, and post your own opinions on a subject.

However:

No anti-OcUK posts

OcUK will never allow these forums to be used by those who would seek to tarnish our name, no matter how justified they feel their circumstances are. Posts of an offending nature slagging off OcUK, demoralising or demeaning the company name, complaints about bad service, etc. will not be tolerated. Posts openly criticising the policies of, or demonstrating a lack of respect for the Administrator are not permitted. If you have a criticism of the forums then feel free to mail the appropriate Don.

Also it was a post that basically said Spie was unprofessional, which could be taken as a personal attack. Personally I don't see the point of banning someone just for disagreeing with you, but I am not the king of these here forums ;)

In reality I think Spie has realised that a lot of applicants may browse these forums, and is hoping that if he points out the common mistakes he'll get less waste of time applications.

More to the point, we've now managed almost 2 pages without a chair-related joke. Well done guys, sofa so good...OOPS :)

:o Whoops. I was writing it at work and had to stop half way through to do something.
Well thats my excuse anyway. I would also like to add that I would never think of using a work PC to read the forums either ;)

Is it me, or has this turned into a "Pick on Spie's company" thread?

If I were Spie's position, I doubt I'd employ somebody with skills that match a primary school pupil.

At the end of the day, a respectable company wants half decent people working for them. I don't think capitalising or half-decent spelling is too much to ask from somebody.

What would happen if a customer wanted a Technician's report, yet the Technician could hardly spelling? Technician: "'ere Gibbo! Do this report for me, will yer?" ;)

I agree there, cant see the point in suspending someone because they simply didnt agree with the way you posted someones job application on the forum. He has an opinion and was banned for it.. Niiiiice :)
