AOC Q3279VWF - FreeSync,VA,qHD 31.5 inch monitor for £249! (ONLY £199 AT OcUK FOR BLACK FRIDAY)!!

so I decided to just put up with the lines, they were only lasting a few minutes but today the monitor stopped detecting a signal through freesync. I've tried
- changing freesync cable - still no signal detected and the cable works fine with my other monitor.
- using dvi-d to hdmi - had this cable around and the monitor works but only up to 1080p
- using dvi-d to dvi-d but although I can select 1440p res it looks awful. looking at he cable it might be a single link one (a block of pins are missing)

I will contact Overclockers support and see what they say. Anecdotally, looking at this thread, the monitor seems to be poorly made.

When i contacted Ocuk they told me ive to contact AOC.

same. I rang AOC today and they told me to email them with various info. Fingers crossed it gets sorted without any hassle

My monitor shows lots of horizontal interference lines when it first comes on. They go away after about a minute but it's obviously not a good sign. Don't think it is a graphics card or pc problem as this happens when only the monitor has been off. any ideas?

I have this monitor for one year and a half, many months ago it started doing what you all described when using 75Hz. As time passes, the lines increase in number and last more minutes. So, no fix? How many years of warranty does this thing have?
Where I live I don't think AOC will do anything for me, and the cost to ship it will be insane. I don't think I even have the box anynore.
I guess the lesson here is don't by cheap monitors... it ends up being more expensive :(

you're living in portugal, so i don't think anyone from a uk forum can tell you what AOC portugal's RMA is like.

you pay your money, you take your chances.
personally i've also got 2 monitors, VWF bought at launch like you have and it's ticking along absolutely fine. luck of the draw i suppose.

Had mine since they were first listed on here, running at 75hz no issues

Here we have to deal with the stores/retailer, I bought online and they will make you pay for the shipment. The monitor is huge and it has to go by ship or plane, because I live on an island, it's not easy. Then I will stay without a monitor for like 2 weeks even if I order a new one, unless I waste more money on one I don't like in here.
I was hoping after all this time maybe someone would know of a fix.

I bought this screen a couple weeks ago, like most screens i have bought over the years to me the colour was off, it looked muddy to me but after a lot of messing about with settings, including RGB i have the colour just so, colour is now vibrant and crisp and without the green tint it came out of the box with.

Its defiantly worth its £200 and then some... its huge, IPS, 75Hz is not great but better than the standard 60Hz, it puts out a good quality image and tho useless to me at the moment it has Free-Sync, honestly i think it would be priced ok at £300 because of its size and there is nothing bad about its quality.

I do have a question about it......

Well this thread landed in my in box i though i might report back 8 months later.

The Screen is still going well, no problems at all with, since nVidia enabled G-Sync on Free-Sync screen i have that too now, work's flawlessly. :)

sounds like it's a hardware issue...tbh.
everything breaks. even the £1000 (figuratively speaking) monitor you'd want to get instead. luck of the draw. no one can predict.

Yeah everything breaks eventually, but a monitor is not supposed to break a few months after purchase, that is just poor quality or a bad product, as we can se so many people had the same problem.

some will, some won't. some will last 20 years without a hiccup. just good/bad luck.
I'm sorry but a few months of usage is not bad luck and we all know it ;)
I'm buying and using hadware from diverse brands, some budget, some better, for a long time and I know that you just get what you pay for. 199€ for 32" 1440p 75hz, I knew what this was and I still went for it.

let's agree to disagree.
you just got a dud. i'm sorry it sucks to be you currently.
Many people got exactly the same dud with the same product and that is not normal, that's what sets it apart form what you were saying, or trying to suggest.

How old was your screen? and which one was it, the TN or IPS one? two different ones, later ones are IPS, mine is the IPS (Q3279VWFD8)

VA. I bought it in january 2018. But it started to present me wiith the interference lines like in septembre, I don't remember. Since then it has been slowly getting worse. I can deal with waiting for the lines to disappear, but I can sense that the monitor will completely fail soon... just a guess

Ok, you're not the first to report this issue, it's probably a weakness in them, for my sake i hope it's one of the reasons they changed the screen its self later on to the IPS that's in mine.

Look i hope AOC honor the warranty, your best bet is to contact them, it shouldn't matter that you don't have the box, as long as you can prove purchase.

Good luck :)

Edit: I also want to say this is my second low cost AOC panel, my last one was and went on for years before i sold it on in perfect working order. :)
