If you were to guesstimate a release date for a curved version of this monitor, it obviously wouldn't be this year, but could it be early 2015, or more like Q3/Q4 2015?

I feel like it may appear on their website (or slip out for certain sources to pick up ;)) early next year but realistically I feel Q2 or Q3 2015 for a release. I really hope to see these in the first half of next year but it's really difficult to say how things will turn out. :(

The lack of curve at this size is a shame, and it's what keeping me from getting one. I will be waiting for the 34" curved screens to become more affordable.

Ok, seeing games running on that monitor at that aspect ratio has convinced me that 21:9 is the future. I MUST HAVE ONE, AND AS BIG AS POSSIBLE PLEASE!

However, I don't like the shiny surround & base of this AOC.

Also, I'm more drawn to a curved model like the forthcoming LG 34UC97-P, or the Dell U3415W, or the Samsung S34E790C.

For me, the decision comes down to the quality of the manufacturing (I don't want visible defects).

Curved will blow these flat screens away... it's a shame they didn't just skip straight to it and forget flat altogether, as once you see the curved in action, it's a no-brainer which to go for.

Anything curved coming out from anyone other than AOC will be twice the price though. I'm quite tempted to get this for the few months it will take AOC to release a curved version - That could be pretty much my entire winter gaming covered easily, and I doubt it would be too difficult to sell if you wanted to make the jump to curved when it came out (even though you'd probably need to double the money you get back on it).

I'm sure you're getting sick of being asked PCM but any further news on a more definite release date? Or even early/mid/end of November?

I don't see it will be double necessarily, given the LG flat to curved is a 33% mark-up... although it is an overly expensive screen to begin with IMO, but then again is the first of its kind so is bound to have a hefty premium.

I'm certainly keeping an eye on the release date and price of the AOC though... it's the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on a smaller 29" at the moment.

The flat AOC to curved LG will be double though, that's what I meant. You could wait for the curved AOC but as I say, you could miss out on a whole winters worth of gaming in that time. I'd rather just get the flat now and swap out later if I think the curve is worth the switch.

Have only just heard about this screen and I was soon to push the button on one of the 4k ones. Would much rather this, the slightly lower res means less demand on my poor GPU!

Needs to be a max of £550 for me to consider it however, £500 and I will insta- buy.

So November for the date? (We think?)

Yeah I see your point. I'm eagerly awaiting the price of the AOC!
