AOC u3477Pqu 34-Inch 3440 x 1440 Monitor

You make a very valid point.

That does make things frustrating. AMD's aiming for models to launch in about 3-6 months I believe? I could be wrong. And as much as AMD are aiming for it, that doesn't mean they command monitor manufacturers.

I wonder if the AOC rep can put this to rest?

Or better yet pass on the info to the person who makes the final decisions on what to scrap (LUT DP Thunderbolt) and probably never played a game in his life nevermind know how big freesync/gsync will be. While there make sure they do the smart thing and offer Glossy screen coatings to get rid of those horrible 800:1 greys that are supposed to be black. But i would stake my life on it having everything the LG has with the only difference being it stripped down and inferior at a cheaper price.

AG, DP 1.2 and wobbly stand yes get ready for the future of displays! /Sarcasm

Looks great, but I'm really holding out until Monitors start supporting Freesync.

Off topic, and this might be a stupid question, but how come there aren't any monitors that are 3200 x 1800? You would still get great resolution but it wouldn't be quite as punishing as 4k on the GPU's.

Great price if true!

So glad I held out and din't get the 34" LG, which seems beset with problems too.

I also will still probably hold out until Gsync or freesync arrives for the 'superwides'. I think it's a technology I will appreciate and is worth waiting for.

I've told myself to just wait until a VA 4k panel arrives but this AOC has hit a price point that I just cannot resist!

Still don't think the price is right though, £499 seems wayyyyyyyyy to cheap, although it could make ultrawide monitors a lot more mainstream which is a good thing in terms of game support etc.

It's not going to be AOC spec, it will be more inline with the LG which is higher spec. The AOC is cheap because it doesn't have Thunderbolt, hardware LUT etc. Those things all need licensing or R&D time to implement and manufacture.

Currently £1 = $1.70 so that puts £499 directly converted to around $850. So I still think we should see it cheaper than £499.
