@Plec to be honest, it's probably going to be easier because no 2.5" ssds. full nvme = less cabling = less hassle.

You maybe right (certainly hope so) the one YouTuber seemed to over-egg the trouble he was having getting it to slot in place. Plus, you're not exactly unaccustomed to this type of build.

Certainly takes the mundane out of the process - I mean every component will essentially be a new experience (all new formats), you must be getting pretty excited about the performance prospects and the complete new external style aesthetic. You've certainly embraced the concept of out with the old and in with the new.

Nope, no intentional coercion on this one - I know how much you tried to hold off. I may have dripped fed the x570i but the case I genuinely presumed you were trying to decide over neo-g (no loop) and the inverted tardis case.

Why not stick with present old faithful for now and consolidate funds? Remove the stress, so you can enjoy the internals.

lol nah. i was just biding my time on the board. aorus b550i would've been nice, but too many unknowns at this point. price included. the fan is a minor annoyance, but a liveable one.
also the £30 steam voucher promotion sweetened the deal somewhat. so in effect £196 for the board (as i'd be spending those vouchers anyway)...and i suspect b550i will come in at £150-180.
so i get it a few months earlier with probably/possibly better vrms and features that i'll never use lol...i think that £30ish premium is reasonable.

Why not stick with present old faithful for now and consolidate funds? Remove the stress, so you can enjoy the internals.

funds not an issue...just the choices lol.
but agree, i'm more inclined to stick with current case and cooling solutions currently, then see what i feel like doing after.
(though if i can bag a cheap cooler off the bay...may swing the decision somewhat )

Worked too late and can't switch off - plus I have a slight fever, 102'ish, which is a little irritating in this heat. I'm all doped doc, and not too tightly wrapped even though I'm freezing

Blame Braun ear thermometers - defaults to fahrenheit and when you have a wife shoving it your ear every f'ing 30 minutes you're just relieved she's happy with the numbers so she leaves you alone.

Admittedly, when your build is complete and you start presenting numbers in controlled excitement (or perhaps unabashed) it will be tough. I admit, it would have been fun sharing data/experience with you. (would have been even more entertaining if Orbi joined at same time)

As it stands - holding out for fanless b550 - if they appear with fans needless to say I will look back on tonight with a lot of regret - but hopefully without the f'ing headache.
