Aorus Master / Extreme (3080+3090) Thread

Hey, had my card a week now, I’m new to building PC’s and Gaming so no expert by any means, I am a programmer by trade and I am really disappointed in the support software from Gigabyte. I have managed to get RGB fusion to recognise the 3080 master only once and that was after completely removing iCue and Armoury Crate which is not ideal as I cannot then control the other hardware in the mix. As a developer I find this very frustrating indeed, I have searched the net and am yet to find a solution that would allow me to maintain control of all my RGB kit without breaking RGB fusion.

As for the card itself, I don’t yet play anything that will really put it through its paces, so am yet to put it through its paces.

Make sure you don't trust the "Auto" settings for fan control if you do challenge it.

On the default Auto setting, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, (looks totally awesome with all settings maxed), raised my GPU temp to 83 degrees, manually increasing fan speeds reduced this to 50.

The customised setting only has three settings which is not ideal.

Coming from a long in the tooth EVGA 980 which had great software it's very underwhelming.

6 weeks using the Aorus Xtreme 3080 i've found where it seems to sit best (for me atleast)

Aorus engine icue and rgb fusion all works ok together since updating the gpu to bios ver.3 (if anyone is having issues with auto sleep or other power issues this for me i found to be aorus engine preventing sleep so i now manually put my build to sleep and the reason being yes i could uninstall aorus engine but i'm using the manual fan speed and set fans from passive to active at 1180rpm this in turn keeps the gpu at 26c most of the time and is just as silent as passive and gaming stress testing rarely hit 58c and this is on the oc bios too. i have not tested the silent bios yet for temps but should imagine it wouldnt be much different.

i found having aorus engine installed using auto fan settings and being on passive mode the fans would ramp up 100% every hour or so for 30 seconds intervals then they are off until a spike in the temps even idling which is a little annoying so having the fans on continously at 1180 keeps the gpu nice and cool and just as silent.

Dont know if this info helps anyone having similiar fan curve issues or lcd issues but this is where i am at for now and if anyone has a solution for auto sleep and keeping aorus engine enabled and active fan mode on would be great.

Just in case i dont see replies before....
Happy new year all :D

Has the LCD panel worked as expected for you? On my 3090 Master it's very hit and miss, with mostly miss. No bios update available yet, although I hope one does come soon.

Bit of a slap in the face for those who already bought the Master isn’t it! Right thing to do but should have been 3x8 from the start

Yeah.

Seems the whole GPU market treats their customers like idiots. With new cards, revisions out 3 to 6 months after some have paid large amounts of cash is a slap in the face. Especially when the original purchase cost £700-£900. Imagine if you buy an iPhone 12 and 6 months later the 13 is released. I suppose it is nothing new and we should know better. For me the revision is probably a non issues as I run stock with a 650psu. Higher clocks/power draw would probably need a new £100 psu.

I have 3080 master and no V3 bios available for this.

I can get fusion to work on and off if I remove iCue and armoury Crate from my machine then install RGB fusion. Even then it sometimes won’t recognise the card and I have to put the pc to sleep whilst having Fusion open. when awakened it seems to see the card again for a while at least.

Installing ICue or Armoury crate will break fusion completely and only removing everything and reinstalling fusion will get it back again. It’s immensely frustrating.

Agree the RGB software issues are frustrating - I've given up playing around with Fusion on my 3090 Master. I know it's unlikely, but it would be nice for Gigabyte to upgrade our cards for free if they do amend the power connectors on the 3090 Master cards too.

Highly unlikely, however if you ever needed to RMA your card you would probably get the latest revision? :p

Card arrived, installation was quick and easy. No problems having Corsair iCue software running my CPU cooler (and RAM lighting) and the Gigabyte Aorus Software for the motherboard, GPU, and case lighting.

Smoke break, then I'll put it through it's paces in Cyberpunk...
