Aorus Master / Extreme (3080+3090) Thread

only diff is higher overclock on the xtreme and a larger vapor chamber. so expect less performance. but you get an idea of what to expect.

Thank you for clarifying that. I'll go and have a look at the extreme. I'll tell you what it's massive compared to my dual fan 5700XT haha. The LCD screen is cool and the Aurous software didn't seem as buggy as some had mentioned. I did do a fresh install of Windows today as I also had a new CPU install.

Also in regards to the 3080Ti do we think that 1440p performance will obliterate the 3080s performance? I only ask as I paid £950 for this card. Well less as the resale value on the 5700XT is more than what I paid a year ago lol. Do we have any good idea on the prices of the 3080Ti's?

wtf 950 for the 3080 xtreme now? really..mad.. some people are saying 900..others think it will be 1200

After having my 3080 Xtreme for just over a week, here is my input:

The good:
  1. The card is powerful, going from a 1080ti to a 3080 is a big jump as it is, but i'm getting 1000+points over a friends 3080 Asus Tuf in timespy, that's both at Factory clocks... it's insane.
  2. Running a Samsung G9 (5120x1440p, HDR enabled) at max settings in all games I've tried so far, lowest FPS is call of duty at 120fps(ish) at around 70c at base clock.
  3. The card looks great, it's a big boy, screen is super cool the display is actually really crisp* (*see the bad, point 1.).
  4. really good built in GPU support, almost 0 sag with no external supports, have 3D printed a little support rod just for extra help.
  5. Aorus Engine is decent, OC scanner tested the GPUs overclocking for near enough 30 minutes and added a curve where the gpu clock hits a max of 2315mhz (absolute madness, although it's mostly stable for benching, some games just don't like redunkulous OCs, direct12 just crashes constantly so i am running at a very slight overclock of 2077mhz (yes, for the meme).

the meh:
  1. cooling is quite as effective as i would have hoped, could be my config though, a friend has a 3080 Master and is running at the same/very slightly warmer on same games as said before, around 70c, some games at around 60-65c, runs way hotter than past cards.
  2. power hungry, but less than i thought, using the ROG Thor 850w with a display, my max power draw hits 650w with overclocks, so not as thirsty as first thought.
  3. noisy boy when things get a little warm, and it does get warm fast, again, not sure if it's my config, but there is a good 10cm between the GPU fans and PSU shroud, although no intake fan there.
The Bad:
  1. RGB fusion 2.0 is complete and utter trash, it does not pick up the GPU to change the settings, you need to pray, restart, roll back drivers, pray, restart, reload drivers. took me 3 hours of messing around to finally get it to show in RGB fusion, and i put it to show all the stats of the card, temp, load, clock, all the good things....it lasted until my next reboot, the stats wouldn't update, was stuck at a screen saying 1620mhz, 49 degrees. deciding i didn't want to live with this issue i decided to change to a gif, almost another 3 hours of driver/Restart BS i finally got it back and loaded the Vibing cat gif. until the software updates, that is what it's staying as but really want statistics.

All in all, this card really, really lives up to the hype. and vs other 3080s it sits just that little bit higher, just don't expect it to be as customizable and friendly as advertised! if any of you get any higher stable OCs let me know! i'd love to see what others can achieve!

Great review, I haven't reviewed my Master just yet as I've not had it a week yet, It's still stock I will be OC'ing my CPU as that's new as got on the same day, my RAM and then the 3080 Master, here is a link to my time spy all stock and XMP etc. I'd love to see yours :)

Hi peeps,
So sorry if this has been covered I have been through numerous pages and I cannot seem to find a similar issue. Apologies also if this is not the thread for this sort of question.
I recently came across some YT vids and other forum posts on how the Master 3090/3080 have had crashes during games randomly - some people found that it was due to iCue software (corsair RGB software) others didn't find the actual issue.
I have seen this vids being posted around 2-3 weeks ago so hopefully this was fixed with a software update from nvidia?

I just ordered a Master 3090 today and I am having second thoughts on it based on my findings today.
Is anyone here able to share their findings on the master 3090 from aorus? Is it still crashing for most people?
Also how do I check my position in the queue?

Apologies if question is not for this thread.
Thanks.

Hey buddy, I've got the Gigabyte AORUS 3080 MASTER, had it for about a week now and I also have the latest Nvidia drivers and had the ones from last week plus the Aorus Engine and RGBFusion 2.0 software from their website and I've had no crashes in-game or desktop browsing and/or on YT etc.

Curious question, with the 3080TI leak announced for release in February 2021 and price tag of £1000 is anyone cancelling orders that are currently in a queue to purchase a TI?

You're most welcome, have fun with it and if you OC please post back we'd all love to see the results, even stock ones, there's a time spy thread here in the GPU section :)
I am more concerned with getting it first :) (and hopefully in the next month or so...but we'll see).

A 2nd concern is that my current PSU would not be enough.
I will be using it with:
ASUS ROG Z390-F
16GB Dual Channel HyperX 4000mhz
I7-8700k @ 5.2ghz (stable at 1.385v for the past 2 years, avx-4)
NZXT x62 kraken (4 x fans on it)
3 more fans around the case
Some sensible RGB lighting on the case
(current GPU: Strix 1080ti OC - boosted to 2.1ghz clock)

My current psu is a fully modular Corsair 750W - I do not think it can carry the 3090 and my current config - should I upgrade to 1000w? What are your thoughts? Would appreciate any input on this - thanks.

Well, received my 3080 Xtreme this morning and very nervously installed it into my quite ancient system.

Great to see the LCD fire up, such excitement!

But then the image changes to what looks like a cracked shield and although the monitor fires up and system info says I have a RTX 3080 windows etc works perfectly the card isn't working properly :(

The Aorus software won't install, I'm guessing the cracked shield is a message that something is wrong but buggered if I can find any guides to the display on Gigabytes website.

My kit is quite old, see sig, I'm wondering if it's because of my PSU and power issues, I have a lot of power but I don't have enough cables to connect each eight pin block to it's own PSU port, two are linked.

Other thing I was thinking is it could be BIOS on the MB as it's donkeys old.

I've played with it all afternoon, frustrated!

Any help extremely gratefully received

2 other vendors i was on email watch have received Master today in stock, gone within a few minutes so I'm hoping OC have had substantial stock as well. Currently #23

Balls. I should have looked in this more before ordering a 3090 Master. As it's only got 2x 8-pin, I'm guessing it's power limited to 375Watts. I'm continuously hitting power limit and unable to OC further.

What would you do? Return / sell and get another card or just keep hold of it?

My recommendation would be to replace your PSU, keep the GFX card.

If you can afford it, get something obscene like a 900W. The large tolerance that buys you means power won't be an issue, and as it'll be running a ways under it's max load, the PSU won't get pushed as hard, so will stay cooler, and last longer.
