Whats the fan noise like under load on the X7 with a 6820HK/GTX1070.

I have come from a clevo P775 which sounded like a plane during take off, to a MSI that just didn't want to play games so looking to put a nail in this and purchase a machine that I will be happy with.

Hi Damien

you can read full review for X7 DT with GTX1080 gpu here: (same chassis but with the step up in GPU)

Hello fellow AORUS lovers :) I've got some pics of the new 10 series V6 range for you today. These should hopefully show how wonderfully crafted these latest laptops are and after giving the X7 a whirl, it's kinda making me want to upgrade from my V3 already

Lets take a look around the X7 V6 CF2.
fSHVYAHh.jpg

This is one slim and beautiful slab of technology. Atom80, it might not be here when you come to get these... that's all I'm sayin' :D

UGcVpnnh.jpg

In all seriousness though, I've come to expect a level of quality from AORUS by now, which is in my eyes extremely difficult to match. Yet, I'm still surprised with each series when I see them firsthand. Component upgrades aside, focusing on the design and features of the AORUS chassis, they've absolutely nailed it yet again AND with some welcome features.

For example - This.
NLZeVzph.jpg

This god damn keyboard. There isn't any crazy genius voodoo, it's just that AORUS seem to have slightly increased the keys' travel distance and it makes a world of difference. It's SO much more satisfying to use and I am more than happy to game on this without feeling the necessity to plug in an external mechanical keyboard. It may just be me, but they also feel like they have slightly more resistance on the key presses too so it doesn't feel like you're just typing on cardboard like with pretty much every other laptop keyboard I've used. Spot on, chaps.

Another addition to the X7 V6 is the implementation of two extra air intakes on the left and right of the speakers above the keyboard. This allows cool air to come into the laptop, instantly over the heatpipes and straight out the side and back of the chassis.

Result: even better cooling. Sick.

This particular unit is the X7 V6-CF2 model. Specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel i7-6820HK @2.7-3.6GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 1070 8GB
SSD: 256GB PCIe M.2
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm
Screen: 17.3" 1920 x 1080p IPS 75Hz G-SYNC Display

The X7 V6 also comes in a CF1 variant with twice the SSD storage in RAID 0 and a 1440p IPS G-SYNC 120Hz panel. Topping the range is the X7 DT V6 which has the same upgrades as the CF1 but instead of the mighty 1070, it homes an even mightier GTX 1080. Remember, there are no "mobile" versions of the 10 series GPUS so these are full-fat, disgustingly quick 1070s and 1080s!

Family photo time:

Left: AORUS X7 V6-CF2 which we've covered

Middle: The baby of the 3 but with a massive bite - AORUS X3 Plus V6. The X3 of the 10 series sports the same i7 and has some serious spec for a 13.9" laptop. The screen offers approximately 264 PPI pixel density, which is insane – easily the most crisp image quality I have ever seen on a laptop.

CPU: Intel i7-6820HK @2.7-3.6GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
SSD: 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm
Screen: 13.9” IGZO 3200x1800 QHD+ IPS Display (hhnnnnnnnn)

I'll get some more detailed pictures of this nutter soon as I understand that stock of this one is quite limited at the moment. The best features of this particular model – in my opinion – are definitely its light weight and super high res screen, especially for the panel size. Naturally, you’d want to up the text scaling a little for general use, but playing games like Overwatch and CS:GO on this screen is such a neat experience on the 1800p display. The X3 Plus V6 has white keyboard backlighting for the easiest viewing. This one would definitely be my choice for heavy travelling.

Right: AORUS X5 V6-CF1
This particular X5 is essentially the same performance specification as the X7 so you will get the same gaming power as the X7 V6-CF2 set at the same resolution. The main difference between these two is the screen. The X5 V6-CF1 has a 3K WQHD+ 2880 x 1620 IPS G-SYNC display. NOICE! Games are crisp and smooth thanks to the power of the GTX 1070 paired with G-SYNC so I think this resolution is a real sweet spot.

CPU: Intel i7-6820HK @2.7-3.6GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
SSD: 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm
Screen: 15.6” 3K 2880x1620 WQHD+ IPS G-SYNC Display

If you would prefer a higher refresh rate over the higher resolution, the X5 V6 is also available with a 1080p 120Hz G-SYNC panel available here! Another difference visually is that the power button and AORUS logo are both backlit with the classic AORUS orange colour rather than white. A small aesthetic detail that just provides variety.

nTNxltEh.jpg

These pictures pretty much round them up feature-wise. As mentioned I'll get some more pictures together of the X3 Plus and X5 models. Let AORUS know what you think as they ALWAYS welcome all feedback and they listen closely! Check out the full range here: AORUS goodness

More to come :)

Hey 1nfamous !

:cool::cool::cool::cool:

What can we say... wow! We REALLY APPRECIATE the work you have put into this post. Its especially powerful because you are an existing AORUS X7 owner, and have noticed & experienced the refinements first hand.

Was great to see you examine (and drool ;) ) over the units we had at INSOMNIA and we know you were impressed with how the X7 ran the HTC VIVE all weekend without any issue.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your views with your forum community :-)

Best Regards,

Team AORUS

They look great. Any idea on pricing for the X3?

Hi icey_haj,

Pricing for the "X3 Plus v6-CF1" is around £1,849

Supply was very limited and demand was very strong, so we will be looking to increase production on this model in 2017.

Stay posted if you're after the best 14" money can buy (IMO),,,,, will be announcements during CES in Las Vegas - 5th - 7th Jan.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Team AORUS.

All 3 of them are just disgustingly rapid. The X7 had Project Cars maxed out running on the Vive BUTTERY SMOOTH. I'm currently testing these on different games and my own 970M SLI is getting a bit jealous at the back of my desk. It's just the fact that these laptops are still so thin yet so powerful. Absolutely crazy.

Hi Atom, any idea when you will next get a shipment of LT-02C-AU? Thanks

Hi Tobeornottobe,

There is a small quantity leaving HQ tomorrow,,,, so should be into OCUK between Xmas and new year....

We would suggest placing pre-order in readiness for the stock arriving, this will ensure you actually receive one when this shipment is booked in.

Hope that helps.

Team AORUS.

Hi atom, I have a question about the cooling. It looks really good taking in fresh air from the top as opposed to the bottom, but what if you connect it to a bigger monitor (for gaming) and have the lid closed? will this cause overheating?

Hi a66as,

The air intakes on the "C" cover provide additional cooling, if the lid is fully closed this would affect the ability of the system to pull in as much cool air and would impact on the overall thermal performance.

FYI:

"A" cover - lid of the laptop
"B" cover - screen bezel
"C" cover - top face (keyboard) of chassis
"D" cover - base, underside of chassis.

Optimum cooling achieved with lid open, of course.

As with most gaming laptop brands, we are seeing the introduction of more air intakes on the "C" cover, and these are there to improve the cooling and airflow.

The unit will work with lid closed, and system will make its performance decisions based on the temperatures.
We would advise that operation with the lid not completely closed, to allow air to still flow into the system is going to give better cooling than completely shut.

Hope that helps in some way.

Regards,

Team AORUS.

Great stuff. Order placed. I just love getting a new computer!

 Hi Tobeornottobe

Thanks for your order. We can confirm goods left factory today, so if Santa's AORUS Sleigh doesn't experience delays, we should see stock arriving between 27-30th Dec.

We look forward to welcoming you as an AORUS customer,

Best Regards and seasons greetings to you & yours, :D:D:D:D,

I just received mine (1070 qhd `20hz 17.3), first impressions are that i didnt expect it to be this light and the build quality and attention to details is amazing. Cons are that im seeing quite a bit of scan lines :/. Is there a potential fix for this?

Although i havnt played any games on it yet but as long as i can calibrate the colours i think ill be fine with this laptop. its very smooth too with the 120hz and trackpad.

I checked the screws and a couple of them have stickers on it, will it void the warranty if i insert additional m.2 drives?

Regards

Hi a66as,

Glad you appreciate the quality and your first impression are positive.

The "striping" on the screen, this is something affecting all brands with this panel, and it varies panel to panel - suppliers are working on improving it.

If you feel that the effect is not acceptable, we will offer a replacement panel, higher res but not 120Hz, replaced FOC by our service partner. So please bare this in mind as you tweak and refine your settings.

Hope that's OK.

Regards,

Team AORUS

Hi Atom, could you quickly go through the differences between the Aero 14 and the aorus x3? I'm curious (I got the aero recently) as they seem very similar and are from the same company...

thanks

Hi Atom

I have a few questions regarding the RMA service for these:

You wrote you can replace these with a higher resolution panel, what resolution will this be? will it have Gsync and will this be an IPS or a TN panel?
How fast is the turnaround time for your RMA service? (bear in mind its Christmas I will probably post this today as I'm going on holiday tomorrow)
Will gigabyte cover the postage?
Could I return this to gigabyte and just ask for a different model such as the 1080p 60hz gsync model for example and be refunded the difference?

Could you answer these questions as they are important, thanks.

Not so important question, I heard a rumour that this interlacing problem is actually an NVidia fault and they are working to resolve this problem. Is any of this true?

Regards

Hi a66as,

Sorry for delay.

You could send back to OcUK, exchange for the other model if you wanted to.

Or, you can return to our service partner to just exchange the panel.

The panel that would be installed would be: • FHD IPS G-SYNC 1920x1080

We cover the collection and return courier costs to our repair centre.

With regards to the route cause, we are not sure on the feedback you provided.

Hope that helps,

Regards,
