Aorus Owner's Lounge

@waldaize my backup plan of the new surface book fell through.. they want £3149 for it ... I think im going to stick my ground with the Aorus for now..

JIMBO....get the feeling our comments are being ignored? If only we knew where Atom80 lived.....#yesthatsmeinyourbushes

:p
Tell me about it
I'm still tempted by the V6 but should the V7 suddenly turn up after paying full price ... I'd feel cheated. Just knowing the different specs and prices would be massively useful.

Misjah was just as impressed. I would've bought one too but at the time I was about to buy the news of the ver 7 X5 and X7 machines was released and it seemed folly to buy a Ver 6 at that time... little did we know.

Hey Chaps,

Never ignored, and always observed,,,,, just difficult when we don't have the answers that we know you want to hear :-)

waldaize,,,,,,,,,, get out of my bushes !

We will push to get ETA firm, pricing arranged, and set up for pre-order, so you can at least make decision on waiting, or pulling trigger on a V6 model.

Again, really apologise for the situation.

Regards,

Atom80

@Atom80 I suspect you are heavily tied with non disclosure etc, and I apologise for the various snipes and volleys aimed your/Aorus' way. It would appear however that whilst the likes of Waldaize and myself have been fairly vocal, we are not alone with several forum users posting similar comments more recently and any encouraging news would be sorely welcomed at this point.

If there's a spec change or feature enhancement vastly different to the prototypes shown at CES then I would assume the wait would be worth it. I believe that is why you have several people chomping at the bit giving you grief. The radio silence however is alarming because you either have issues in the supply/manufacturing train or it suggests there may be issues with the new machines that you are battling to fix. My experience with the latter suggests that the issues never truly disappear especially in this day and age of accountants ruling the roost. If its supply chain/manufacturing issues and you are expecting to have an ETA and pre orders available relatively soon, then it suggests you know the model specs already.

Kaby Lake has been out and distributed since January. We have to conclude then that Aorus is planning something special (GTX1080ti?) with the final spec of the X5 X7 models. I suppose we just need to know either when there will be an end to our wait? Or whether the final spec is sufficient enough to justify waiting another undefined "few weeks"?

@JimboJet im sure when there is something for @Atom80/Aorus to tell us they will at there earliest. I know how it must feel to wait for information but im sure good things come to those who wait :)

I to am waiting to purchase an upgrade to my x7 v4 and would like information but i know that atom80 wouldn't hold back something intentionally and im happy to wait :)

Hi JimboJet,

It really isn't "radio silence", and sorry if it's felt we have been holding back. We just don't want to over-promise and then let down.

We are aware of why we have a delay, and its not tech hardware related or problem solving, its related to chassis parts.

We spoke with HQ this morning, and they are aware of the feedback and frustration experienced. Trust us, we share your pain!

We have requested images from HQ, so that we can at least give visibility of the new specs and pricing, enabling pre-orders or choose alternative.

The intention is to get these done in the next week.

Hope that helps in some way. Thanks for input also @orangeman2003

Have a good weekend one and all,

Regards,

Team AORUS

Just seen an aorus x5s with a 980m and uhd screen. What are they like to game on?

Hi Vita - the unit you mention is a very strong price as recently discounted the last unit at OCUK (was £2,099), down to £1,799: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoru...-intel-i7-6700hq-gaming-laptop-lt-026-au.html

There are some reviews and benchmark result on-line, here is something we just copied for you from media site:

Benchmarks
Here's how the Aorus X5S v5 handled our benchmarks:
  • 3DMark: Cloud Gate: 18,801; Sky Diver: 20,676; Fire Strike: 8,172
  • Cinebench CPU: 676 points; Graphics: 97 fps
  • GeekBench: 3805 (single-core); 13472 (multi-core)
  • PCMark 8 (Home Test): 2,858 points
  • PCMark 8 Battery Life: 2 hours and 23 minutes
  • Middle Earth: SoM (1080p, Ultra): 66 fps; (1080p, Low): 117 fps
  • Grand Theft Auto V (1080p, Ultra): 28 fps; (1080p, Low): 133 fps

There is also a review of the CAMO version: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/laptop/92147-aorus-x5s-v5-camo/?page=6

Same hardware as the machine at OCUK, just chassis difference, so the benchmarks apply.

Not sure if there are any owners who can give you their experiences, but for sure this is a great piece of kit for the money.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

@Atom80 that would be awesome :) I look forward to hearing about that!... Cant find anything like what the Aorus x5 v7 could be promising in specifications, so I think I can keep waiting :)

Atom80, thank you. I do understand and it does help in some way.

Yup...i do hope we see these this week.

Brilliant I shall hang on then.

Hi one and all,

Thanks - just to keep you in the loop, Taiwan HQ are on public holiday until Wednesday, so expect information in the latter part of the week.

We are on the case and expect that OCUK will be able to complete the set ups on the skus once they receive the information from us.

Thanks again for your understanding(s)

It is with a broken and sorrowful heart heart that I post that at approximately 1900hours on April 1st my work laptop failed to boot. I did everything I could to save her... but even a full system restore failed...

The harddrive was extracted and placed into an external caddy in an attempt to save some of the content, however, she didnt make it... I was going to bury her in the garden so she could always be close, but the wife said i was taking it all waaaay too seriously... also we only have a concrete yard!

Team Auros, please enjoy the public holiday :)... and perhaps have a drink and raise a glass with me to fallen comrades :(

Dont worry.. you didnt build it! Its just the laptop I was hoping to replace with an x5v7

Hi cyber_pantalaimon,

This is indeed sad news, I think your "fallen" unit obviously took offense to your post made on the 31st March making it clear you were looking to replace "her".......

We hope to be able to replace the gap in your life with something much more,,,,, alive :-)

Unfortunately that seems likely

So bored and grumpy ...really wish I'd bought an Alienware 17 R4 1080 last week.. .refurb with 15% at the time came to £1690 all in.

If that kinda deal crops up again soon with no news it's happening.
