Product Red springs to mind, I'm sure they did it with the iPhone 4 as well.I'm trying to think of any instance where that's been done.

We're 6 months into a 2 year transition, not sure what you were expecting, multiple processor SKUs immediately? It's clear that in the first year, they're transitioning their lowest-end products and reusing parts and designs as much as possible.
They do. RRP seems a bit steep for one making the 4 pack better value but I can't think what I would use 4 for. Keys is the obvious one. I could attach one to my toddler I suppose...AirTags are pretty neat, especially if you loose things a lot![]()
Wut? People don't care how it performs. It's an iMac, they're bought for how they look. As an aside, the M1 is insanely quick so it doesn't matter. Willy waving with specs is better left to 'Roiders and custom PC builders, not people who buy iMac's because 'pretty'.
Then don't buy one. I don't understand why you're in this thread, you clearly don't like the product(s) so to me you just appear to be trolling and trying to get a rise out of people. If its just based on looks, this imac is pretty ugly? At least for me it is, the colours arent for me and then chin/bezel situation is poor. Surely you would rather a mac mini + very nice monitor if all you care about is looks
But surely if you're looking to buy an imac its disappointing seeing as its the same performance as a ipad? Idk though, guess its different for each user
Nearly pushed the button on an iPad pro yesterday. Wait for new one or nab a bargain last gen?
As mentioned above it depends on the usage. If it's merely a consumption device then even the Air represents very good value. I returned my 2018 Pro for the 2020 Air and don't regret it.Nearly pushed the button on an iPad pro yesterday. Wait for new one or nab a bargain last gen?
It's more that the chip in the iPad is overkill for iPadOS. If they put a real OS on the iPad then the chip would make way more sense.
Yeah its replacing a gen 3 which is really clunky now so might have a look at the Air, would that be better than current Pro 11?As mentioned above it depends on the usage. In pure spec it's probably a little behind the current Pro but considerably cheaper. Much of the differences are subjective. The Pro has the 120hz Pro-motion display and FaceID whereas the Air has standard 60hz and TouchID. In my opinion the 60hz on iOS is perfectly fine and I don't miss the pro-motion from the Pro. On the iPad I also prefer TouchID over FaceID as it's much easier to unlock. Unlike your iPhone the iPad isn't always in front of your face. When it's resting on your lap or even using it flat on a desk the FaceID is pretty much useless.Yeah its replacing a gen 3 which is really clunky now so might have a look at the Air, would that be better than current Pro 11?
Let's be honest, the M1 is a huge upgrade over any of the Intel chips in use on Apple products, except for the higher end Xeon which are lol money anyway.
And the ipad a slightly toned down M1. .

But why is that a problem? If the iPad can have an M1 chip, then great
I'm not familiar with the application but as far as I understand it, the Apple Silicone version is only in beta at present?Resolve
Hmm, no, not quite.
I ran a test, processing some media in Resolve on the Macs I had on hand - a 2016 iMac, a 2020 i7 iMac, and an M1 Mac Mini. The M1 Mini and the 2016 iMac were almost identical to each other, processing the media in the same time. The i7 2020 iMac was just a little under twice as fast.
Comparing the i7 to the M1 is kinda crazy, considering the price difference. But the idea that the M1 is better than all the Intel chips is wrong. It's marketing spin.
