I'm wondering if my new iPad Pro is faulty. If I push the screen with pretty light force, or on the rear shell in the centre about 1-2" above the Touch ID sensor I can hear hear a pretty bad creaking sound. Like the iPad is flexing and touching something inside.

Does anyone else's have this issue?

It takes quite a bit of force on mine to push in, and all I can hear is the back plate coming into contact with what I can assume is the battery. Certainly no loud creaking from what I could hear, and it would have to be something I purposely do, as it isn't something I would do when using it regularly.

just gone into the local shop to have a hold....lighter than I though it was going to be. But then I'm comparing it to my ipad2 which is brick like in comparison.

£800 for the 128gb model though, its a nice bit of kit but justifying the price isn't going to be easy. Will have a think on it over the weekend.
The 128gb Air 2 is considerably cheaper - even if its running the "older" chip in it - and will still do me as an upgrade for a few years...tricky.

I just got back from my local store too and playing with it proved that I had zero justification in buying one. The keyboard can only be used when the iPad is on a stand or desk and the pencil is for specialised apps.

Apparently Logitech have a keyboard cover for the Pro that's both cheaper and better than the Apple one.

They do, and it looks fantastic.

Significantly better than Apples offering, mostly because it has a proper UK keyboard, not a US keyboard.

Just got mine love it already. Speakers are fantastic and I'm loving the size of it

Have to agree there, the speakers are awesome. They've done a really good job with them.

Had a play about with one. If I was more flush with cash I'd probably get one. I've been wanting a new iPad. I'm stuck using the iPad 3rd generation. It's slow as anything.

Also torn on whether to get AppleCare+ on this too. Apparently without it you could be looking at around £500+ repair costs. I never get insurance on products like this as I generally look after my hardware, I haven't broken a piece of hardware since about 2002 when I fell over with my Sony Ericsson T610 in my pocket and it did more damage to me I think.

Even a cracked screen is a £500+ repair -imo it's a no brainer

I love the idea behind the big screen, i'd love to try using one in a classroom thats equipped with an apple tv to see if it makes a difference to my lessons, alas the cost is far outside the range of a teacher really.

I've heard that the current issues with it are based more around the software than the hardware - has anyone experienced any issues?

Well my point being, I've not broken hardware in over 12 odd years, so paying for AppleCare feels like paying for something I don't need. I'll see how I feel after a few weeks of using it, and whether there is a chance I'll break it.

My post was also to inform others of potential costs in case they get one and the Apple Store sales person doesn't mention possible repair costs.

You convinced me to get it, I've never bothered with any apple product before but given it's the same price (£79) for any iPad it does seem silly not to get it for a £800 tablet. I hadn't realised a screen replacement was that much and while I can't ever remember breaking a pice of hardware this thing does make me nervous!

Far to big to be useful in the house its almost like walking about with a flat TV. Had a play in the store and while it might be useful in industry and education it gets a “No” from me on the home front. Ipad Air2 gets my vote and is still our choice for the home this Xmas. If you put both side by side and said take one home for free the Air2 would be walking out the door.

If I want a flat screen that size I go to the PC and for Films the Flat screen TV.

Ugh, I can't believe I'm actually considering buying one of these. I told myself when it was announced that I wasn't going to get one. Now, having played with one in the Apple store I'm seriously considering it.
I don't want to sell my Air 2 though as it still gets used with my Inspire and the Pro is too big for that.

my Air 2 will be used even though I have one of these. This will be more for watching stuff if the girlfriend is hogging the TV, where as my Air 2 would be for browsing etc. Browsing the web on this would be awful given how difficult it is to hold and use unless on your lap

Been into a Microsoft store and looked at the Surface 4's, walked across to the Apple store and looked at the iPad Pro. Not sure what I prefer!

I think for browsing and watching videos, the iPad is the better device, but the Surface is more versatile but not as easy to touch navigate as iOS. The Surface also has better storage.

I've got until the end of the week to make my mind up!
