With iOS 14 now, can I use an iPad Pro with an external monitor?

I assume keyboard and mouse are ok?

Not "properly" it still just mirrors the main display or in some cases (Lumafusion and Infuse) uses the second screen for displaying Video.

There is an app called Shiftscreen which gives some limited external display use but its not great

Keyboard and mouse is working great though!

My 11" pro has started playing up...
Seems to only happen when using the Kindle app but basically it keeps turning screen off/locking randomly.
Nothing to do with screen timeout (which is set to 5 mins) and only seems to happen with the Kindle app

Just noticed I've got a scratch on the screen of my 11" iPad Pro (2020) just to the right side of the FaceID camera at the top of my screen. I'm kind of gutted as it's the first time I've somehow managed to scratch the screen of a device I own.
Since I purchased it it's been in a Smart Folio case and I'm the only one to use it, and I don't understand how it's happened as I'm always really careful.

It's only visible at certain angles and it's about an inch long. I only noticed it as I was cleaning the screen to apply a tempered glass screen protector to protect the screen when I'm using my Apple Pencil.

With the screen protector on the light scratch can't be seen thankfully.

I've got AppleCare+ is it worth getting it replaced this now or wait it out until my coverage is about to expire then put in a claim?

Can I get a USB C to HDMI cable and have it mirror Sky Sports on my iPad Pro onto my TV?

No. Sky are utter bellends and make it almost impossible to do any of the normal things you might want to do to be able to use your insanely expensive sky sports subscription.

I have access to my partners parents Sky account and have just stopped using it to watch any sport because the app on my mac is beyond awful, gives a poor picture quality and breaks regularly. I get a far far better experience from using dodgy streams that I do from their official app. Who are those dodgy streams using? Sky of course. Utter joke.

I have an original iPad Pro (9.7inch I think).

It still handles all the latest iOS versions, and I’m using it with the old Apple keyboard and pencil. I can also connect a bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and get that functionality there.

What, if anything, am I missing out from in terms of the lastest iPad Pro’s? Is it just horsepower?

Bit of speed, 120hz refresh (I think), newer apple pencil and a really nice form factor. The Rounded bevels just make the device feel super premium and I can't go back to an old style iPad without it feeling clunky and outdated. Honestly the 11" iPad Pro I have is probably my favourite apple device ever.

In actual use though? You probably won't notice much difference unless your pro is feeling slow.

thanks!

it is also a little bit cramped UI wise when I’m trying to use it for work.

what are you mainly doing with yours? Content consumption or work type bits?

Just to help as well...

I use mine for messing around with code (JavaScript/Python) and writing content for my sites. I do use it a fair bit, and since I've got it, my MBP has been demoted to being used in clamshell mode 100% of the time, as the iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard case is the much better device to use.

When the iPadOS eventually has a file system and has a proper IDE on it, it will pretty much be my main device.

Guys, eyeing up an iPad Air 4th Gen however I've seen a used or refurbished 2018 Pro can be picked up for roughly similar money.
If price is the same, in any of your experiences, which one would be the better buy?

What are you looking to do with the ipad ? do you need lidar ?

Go with the ipad air 4, definitely worth it seen some great reviews , looking at getting one myself

Definitely don't need lidar anyway. Honestly it's just for general use/browsing and media consumption. I also do hope to do photo editing with the pencil which I've heard is nicer to use on the 120hz display.
