No doubt a lot of people will be too lazy to read the article and continue to bash the Apple Pencil, so I will summarise...

It is superior to the Wacom. Finer tip, much better latency.

Let's see if this opinion holds up after it launched. My bet is yes. Why on earth would Apple release an accessory they know is inferior to what's already out there?

I disagree, especially from a UI perspective. I don't want an OS that tries to be all things to all people. It just ends up like Windows 8 - a mess.

Hopefully Apple will continue to improve iCloud and make iOS more document driven.

I presume you use OSX, Linux or Windows right now. They already try to be all things to all people.

Online storage isn't fit for purpose in most cases upload speeds especially when on the move are slow in the UK.

Its probably pretty good, but for the price of the combo you'd hope it would be!

The whole system just doesn't seem very innovative. What a pain to have to carry around the large tablet and the pencil separately, and make sure your pencil is charged. If it had been x86 based then it wouldn't be as inconvenient, but now you also have to worry about app/document compatibility.

Compared to what apple has done in the past, it just doesn't feel very thought out, and imo is not worthy of a "pro" moniker.

The optional pencil is an accessory for creatives to allow them to have precise control over drawings. It's a large tablet for many reasons but for this case it allows a larger canvas to work on.

That in itself makes it a Pro tool. Consumers don't need this, and people who will actually use these features won't feel like lugging around tablet and pencil to be a pain.

I am quite interesting in getting one of these.

To those asking about who the target market is I guess I am probably it. I work in IT but my work is no longer technical. I think the appeal is that it could be the 'one' device you would need to carry all the time and I do travel a fair bit.

Most of the time I need a device for Email, IM, Note taking, Web access and MS Office work (mainly reading and spreadsheet work). As long as it supports VDI access would mean I could do the occasional access to the apps not supported natively by that means.

The fact that this would also then serve as a media device (Netflix, Sky Go etc), personal stuff such as Facetime/Gmail and reading (newspaper apps etc) would be a real bonus. The latter is where the Surface would fall down imo.

The pencil charges off the iPad Pro. 15 seconds charge gives 30 minutes of usage.

Great news.

This also reinforces the idea that people are looking at these products and making judgements without knowing any facts.

Preconceived notions don't work too well for new Apple products. One thing I do trust is that Apple have put a huge amount of thought into the development of everything they push out.

Are you serious. They are there to make money, end of. And they know it will sell in droves due to the sheeple.

We don't have proof that either of our opinions are 'fact'. but I firmly believe that Apple are interested first and foremost at creating innovating products for the world to use, and to change the way that we use technology.

The money just comes rolling in afterwards.

Be interesting to see how this stacks up again Surface 4 Pro.

Will be interesting yes. I hope more professional apps become available because the super-low-latency when using the stylus (i refuse to call it a pencil! :p) is potentially game changing when it appears to be, from professionals using it, even lower latency then the most expensive dedicated drawing tablets.

Pencil. Not Pen. Not Stylus.

Can you post anything in the Apple forums without a rolleyes? Anyway, you just made my ignore list. Congratulations.

It's a pen.

Why is the "Pencil" different to the Pen.

(It's not a stylus as it's active, not just a prodding stick).
