I don't get who the iPad Pro is for. Professionals won't buy it because it hasn't got any ports and you can't attach a mouse. Home users wont buy it because it's too big and too expensive. I can see maybe graphic designers or artists buying it but wouldn't the Surface Pro 3 be better for that as you can use proper apps like Photoshop?

Not feeling it at all.

If they had made it with Core-M in it and running OSX, now that's a tablet I would buy without even thinking about it.

Just seems like they made it, cause they could and I don't see the real problem its solving. I don't feel like this thing will be a huge hit.

Be interesting too see what happens in the mobile CPU arms race, Intel is racing to get power usage down, ARM is racing to get performance up. I want too see how it stacks up against the entry Macbook once Skylake version is out.

Quite possibly. :(

Like what?

Are there any apps out that even use layers for example? The current iPad apps by Adobe are pretty poor, more like viewing extensions of the desktop programs that you can do a quick edit on than standalone apps.

(Seriously interested to know if i'm missing something as I will probably update my (original) mini at some point soon and I want to do some basic photo editing when away rather than using my macbook).

Is their an "App" version of the likes of ArtRage/ Corel Draw etc?

OMG Apple have invented the computer stylus

:D

No, because Steve Jobs said if you ever see a tablet with a stylus, they failed..
So them calling it a Pencil is clearly work around at best ;)

I think calling it the Pro was a bit misleading though, IMHO they should have done a MacBook Air with a detachable keyboard, any serious user isn't going to want to use a tablet OS and thats where they are going to fall on this one, even with the new version of Office from Microsoft helping to bump sales, or stop people from migrating, I don't see any Pro in this device at all, I guess they should have called it an iPad+ rather than a Pro, and I'm guessing calling it a MaxiPad would have ran into certain legal area's lol

No no, you have to pay for those.

Ahh yes, paying for a keyboard, remember all the Apple fanboi's that pulled the Surface range up on not having a keyboard, here have a slice of this pie, I imagine a lot of them are now getting rather fat, phones don't need bigger screens, tablets shouldn't need a stylus, Surface should come with a keyboard (does the Pro come with its pen or is that an option as well, at least the Surface comes with its pen..)....

Imagine a Surface Pro 3 with no kickstand, no dockability, limited ecosystem, no expandable storage/USB port, dubious palm rejection and $200+ more expensive and you basically have the iPad Pro - I think that covers it? :p

No, that doesn't cover it, there's a separate accessory for that ;)

A lot of haters, as per usual.

Anyone who is parroting about the stylus thing is not thinking about it at all. This pen is used for digital media creation, they haven't designed the iPad Pro to be used with the stylus as the main input method. It's a high precision accessory for artists. And from what I have seen, it is far and away a much better piece of tech than a 'dumb' stylus that others sell, hence the price tag.

If people don't have enough cash to buy high end stuff, fine. Just don't call it stupid.

I am waiting for 3D touch and all the features of this iPad Pro to come to a smaller form factor, then I am all over it. I am sort of considering the Pro still for my company, I'll literally just use this as the computer from which I handle all my business (unless it turns out that using Autodesk is actually viable and then I don't need my computer to 3D model.)

So its finally official. I love the iPad but I don't think I have a need for this personally but its going to be awesome for illustrators with the Apple Pencil!

A9X Processor
32Gb, 64Gb, 128Gb Storage
2732x2048 12.9" Screen

Now who was it who said if you see a pencil they blew it? Oh! I remember it was the previous CEO of Apple Steve Jobs.

I don't see it. The Wacom stylus I use has pressure sensitivity (1024 levels), is super accurate, has palm rejection, has a button to right-mouse things, can be inverted to erase things, and has no battery and so never needs charging.

I'm an Apple fanboi but I just don't get what is so special about the Pencil. It seems to me as though they have re-invented the wheel that was working fine before.

So actually it sounds like you aren't interested in the Pro either, just interested in some of the tech that will probably be in the Air 3?:p

You're hitting the same stumbling block everyone else is hitting, serious lack of software to make it a replacement for your desktop/laptop for creativity.

Again, the operating system doesn't make it any less of a 'proper' computer. The lack of professional apps, integration and accessories make it less of one however. This can be easily fixed over time however so lets see - it depends how seriously Apple want to push the iPad into the professional corner of the market.

What about the CPU that is nowhere near to an i5/i7. No point having 'professional' apps if it's slow as hell.

What's special about the Apple Pencil is that they said they'd never make one as you didn't need it for iPads.
