So I have an SP3, I paid £899 for the i5, 256 8GB ram, I can run what I like on it, I have pretty much every professional media creation piece of software on it, the likes of Artrage etc all have different input method's for touch.
TH Surface Pen, that comes with it, does an excellent job for drawing and can be very well customised.

How is this a draw from any professional?.

Need a smaller MacBook for Uni than my current 17" MBP. Should I get the MacBook, 13" rMBP or iPad Pro. I have an iPad 3 now that I bought for uni but I barely use it cos its sloooow and inconvenient but the iPad Pro looks like it could be a winner?

Can anyone let me know please if i buy the Wifi and Celluar (4G) will it work in the UK ? as i am going to NY in October

id personally get a laptop in that form factor. I agree with the above that this would have been more appealing if it had full blown OS X.

I disagree, especially from a UI perspective. I don't want an OS that tries to be all things to all people. It just ends up like Windows 8 - a mess.

Hopefully Apple will continue to improve iCloud and make iOS more document driven.

Sorry i meant November, just did not know if the Celluar works in the UK

Yes, it'll work fine. There used to be two cellular models for the US - one for AT&T and one for Verizon. In the past, you needed to buy the AT&T version. Now, there's just one iPad to rule them all.

Now who was it who said if you see a pencil they blew it? Oh! I remember it was the previous CEO of Apple Steve Jobs.

It wasn't Steve Jobs. He said Stylus. ;)

Obligatory

That said I don't see the point of the iPad Pro. I bought a Surface Pro on blowout, and that came with a keyboard cover and pen for the same price as just the two accessories for the iPad Pro! Oh and it's got an i5.

It has already been mooted from various sources that Apple have called it a 'pen' to hide their embarrassment at yet another u-turn. Pen/Stylus a rose by any other name.

This is the Steve Jobs Stylus pitch. It was a pretty awesome launch for the iPhone - very light touch, the current Apple product pitches are too formal.

It's a smartphone with a 3.5" screen. Different device to a 13" Tablet. The pencil is optional, and far more than a plastic stick. The iPad Pro is primarily a touch device with optional keyboard and pencil input.

I'm guessing no-one remembers how unresponsive touchscreens on iPAQs and Windows mobile phones were 10 years ago...

I'm tempted by the iPad pro to replace my Air (which will go to the missus). It's almost exclusively a media device so bigger screen for videos is one of the only things I want :D

Although also tempted by a Surface Pro instead...

The only reason I'd want it I think is for sofa lounging and using picture in picture if the telly is occupied by something like Hollyaoks , seems a tad expensive for that, the air would do the same just on a smaller scale. Maybe one day :D
