Won't it come to steam?
Would normal USB drivers work with MBAs?

I've never used Steam. How does it work? Do you need to access the internet to play or can you fully download games?

I did find out that you can actually make an image of the disc and apparently this works. :D The only concern is the 11" is only 1.6GHz so not sure if that would hamper it's performance.

Steam is basically like the AppStore. You can purchase games and they download to your computer. You'll need an internet connection to play games, as you need to connect to Steam through the software to load the games. You can set games to "Offline Mode" though if you know you'll want to play without an internet connection at some point.

Does £47 sound right to you?

It is about £50 for students with Higher Education discount and £150 for non-students... There is some discrepancies on the internet as to whether you need to pay it if your using higher education discount as they give it for free (the £50 is just for telephone support which isn't really needed)

For more info on it see the higher education discount threads

Thanks. How does offline mode work? Could you play on a flight?

Huzzah, the 13" MBA has a sensible res screen, an extra USB socket and is exactly what I wanted. Shame that it's not an i3 chip in there though.

Ordering mine when I get home tonight as my 15" MBP is utterly buggered.

I cant see the thread, can you point the way please?

I just spoke to a guy from Apple and he said that you should be automatically eligible for the Appleplan since I got to the university of Warwick. But I asked him how do I register for it and he said that since if you order the macbook air, it will be registered as HE.

Cany anyone verify or help on this? Cheers!

HE gets 3 years Applecare, and you can pay extra for telephone support. Outside of HE you'll need to purchase Applecare separately.

More information in the HE thread.

The more i think, the more i wish they put in a sim card slot.

The netbook is low powered but it is designed to use to browse online, emails and the occasional office document. It is not designed for games or serious grunt
CPU intensive work.

The MBA on the other hand is a netbook size laptop. It has a proper dual core CPU, 4G ram, good res screen. The down side is that the 11" one is like a netbook...and for me, if i buy it just to go online it would be a waste of money, since it would waste its potential and again, it lacks that SIM card slot.

Ipad for web and MBP for work is still the best combo. I don't think he MBA will add anything in my life. I certainly wont use it to go online outside the house. Plus, the MBP is much more powerful too.
