**Apple Media Event - September 12th **

I still don't think it is the iPhone 5, it wouldn't make sense.

They went with the 'New iPad' because you cant keep going iPad 1, iPad 2 and so on :/

Oh well, roll on next wends!

Why can't you keep incrementing the number?! Surely it makes perfect sense, whereas adding "new" before something makes none? What do you call the next iPad? The new new iPad? The new iPad 2?

I think most of us know that we've pretty much ordered this phone already, we're just waiting for Apple to let us do it officially :p

I certainly won't want to be breaking the tradition of having the new iPhone on release day and being a complete mug :D

Been Sim Only for years now, upgrading by buying a sim free model. I skipped the 4s which always bugged me. Recently sold my 4 and bought a scabby 3gs to tide me over. Will be so glad to get rid of it...

Cool, not that interested in the iPhone5 (I'm an Android kinda when it comes to phones) - but am keen to have a look at the iPad mini.

were the iPhone 4 - 4S available to pre order in the Apple stores?

Not in stores I don't believe but you could preorder online.

After launch I think you could reserve a 4s the evening before for collection at a specific time the following day.

Launch day is pretty much a first come first served at the stores.

Are they usually 499 or 599 for the 16gb sim free?

Just sold my iphone 4 for £240 so will be putting cash towards it as im still tied into a contract :)

So to be clear; it's obvious this is the press lauch for the IP5 .

What date will i be able to logg onto the Apple store and buy one on-line ?

I can remeber doing this on a Sunday night into Monday morning to buy the I pad 1 , the site updated at midnight and I purchased for delivery on release date .

I see, so for those that pre order online did you iPhone arrive on day 1?

So the MacBook Pro 10 works does it?

It'll follow the same principle as all the other Apple lines.

It'll either be like:

iPad (3rd Generation) like the iPod was named...
MacBook Pro (Mid 2012)... iMac (Late 2011)...

Etc...

The camera is ALWAYS better than the last one. It's a given, really.

I can see why they lumped the iPad in with the Macs and iPod in terms of naming and not the iPhone - I think Apple assume that their customers for those devices will, on average, hold onto them for a longer time frame than phones (most people don't upgrade their Macbooks and iPods annually), which tend to be upgraded every 12-24 months as most owners are on contract, and with smartphones being a more fiercely competitive arena for them, the name is still important.
