**Apple Media Event - September 12th **

anyone know if you can pre-order to collect in store on release day? or if its just first come first served on the day?

(3 Network)

Got my 4s pre-ordered in store (three network) but they only keep it for something like 3 hours after opening.
-edit-
New contracts only, sim free is only available via Apple afaik.

I walked into my O2 store when it opened for the 3GS Launch Day and was out in 10 minutes (even after setting up a contract!).

ok thanks

well i'm just due an upgrade, held off on the 4S and waiting for 5

just want to pre order the 5 when its announced and collect on release day, probably just going to book a day off work and hopefully just walk in n grab one.

I really really really want the 12 to be about iWork 12 (despite knowing the event is being held on the 12th)... It's been so long :( poor poor iWorks

Looking forward to the phone though... :)

I've decided to head down to my local Apple store for the luanch - what time did they start selling iPhone 4S' when they came out? - I've heared it was like 5pm :-s

Despite the fact that I will most likely be getting the phone, I am not too excited about it. I mean it's hard to improve on it aside from battery life and software/app demands aren't exactly pushing them on the hardware side just yet. Mind you I am well out of touch on the latest games.

I am more excited about iO6 though. I hope Scott and his team will bring us some good new features and hopefully customisation for that useless stock lockscreen.

Echo above comments - you can only buy SIM free from Apple directly. Found that out to my cost when I waited in an O2 queue for an hour to be told no dice at the end. (Was just after a phone on PAYG to use with my simplicity deal)

Are you sure??? When I brought my 4, two years ago there was a separate queue for contracts and other for sim free when queuing out the Apple shop in Birmingham. Maybe that was changed before the 4S launch.

I see, so for those that pre order online did you iPhone arrive on day 1?

Yes :)

Ordered three on pre order first day, all three came before mid day on the day of release :)

Going to sell my iPhone 4s for around ~£250.

Really hope they new iPhone has a better battery life :p

I'll be giving orange a ring over the next few days. See what I can find out about when I can get my iPhone, if I can get 4G on my current plan and anything else! Hopefully they will be nice, I've already signed up for another 24 months 3 weeks ago so they best hurry up with my new phone!

Pre-order will be shortly after and release will be 7 - 14 days i reckon. Glad I saved up ready! Just wondering what the price thresholds will be. Hmm...

Identical to previous iPhones I imagine. With the 4S the Apple site slowed to a right crawl and it was a bit of an effort getting my order through... imagine it'll be the same this time - hammering refresh!

For what its worth we are currently outsourcing a project to a dev team who contracts a designer who also works for Apple designing naturally I tried to get the gossip. Only thing he would spill is each apple device is/will soon download individual profiles from Apples cloud fairly soon.

Like I say take it for what you want but he's working with our Devs for the next week so iif we get anything more I'll let you know. Sounds quite interesting though for the Ipad more than the Iphone

That goes against what they said iCloud is for...

"All your contacts/mail/calendars/documents/pictures pushed to the cloud and back to all your devices" (or something to that effect).

I can see it's benefits as the "old system" may catch some people out (imagine a guy on a night out taking some saucy pictures which are currently being beemed back to the apple TV where the mrs is with her family... *cringe*).

They started doing up the venue yesterday.....
