Apple Pay Launch - How will it be activated?

"and everywhere else contactless is accepted"

There was nothing wrong with what he posted.

Which is incorrect as the C&P solution for the convenience store company I work for and support isn't working as of today ;)

And since the company which gives us our solution also supplies 3 other national brands at the very least I would say a fair few won't work :p

But, as I said, it should work. :p

Can Apple Pay be used in any shop that already accepts contactless card payments, or just those companies signed up which are listed on the Apple site?

If it is any shop, then cool! But then why is there a list of crappy participating shops on Apple's website if every shop that has contactless accepts it?

https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-pay/where-to-use-apple-pay/

As it says, it should work anywhere that accepts contactless - some places don't have the Apple Pay sign up yet but it still works, it's just some companies have obviously paid to advertise on Apple's site that they accept it as to make people more aware.

I wonder if Apple will say what the first day usage was like; it seemed like a lot of people tested it out.

You're incorrect :p

Any wireless terminal will support it

He is correct several models of contactless terminals on old firmware will not support Apple Pay. Some don't even have a firmware/software update available yet to support Apple Pay. He has mentioned that his job is to support these systems, what makes you think he is incorrect ?

Whoops! I stand corrected. Worked on all the ones I tried :)

Is the general consensus that if your bank supports Apple Pay and your card supports it (contactless) then you are good to go? It's not reliant on having a premium account or something like that?

Just used it waitrose, accepted on the phone but not the till. Assistant said it's not gone through, had to use chip & pin. Anyone had similar issues?

Used it this morning on the commute into work. Opened passbook as I walked to gate, popped my thumb on then held phone to the card reader. No delay, in fact appeared slightly faster than contactless with my AMEX, but naturally a smidgen slower than Oyster.

There are lots of Oyster card app not the App Store, which one do you use?

I don't use Oyster anymore, I only do a zone 2 > 1 and zone 1 > zone 2 journey so it works out cheaper to use contactless rather than Oyster. So I just added my AMEX to passbook and pay using that.

Bit of a novelty, though, as it's easier to whip my contactless card out, but useful if I forget/leave it at home.
