So apparently they're having a screen on the front so you can see the users eyes. But the screen means the tracking cameras have had to move, and that's impacted the tracking. On top of that, there's supposedly some latency due to everything going on. And finally, it may have been mentioned already, but it's not going to have any controllers, relying on hand tracking etc.

Sounds like a device with no focus (no pun intended)

As much as I despise Facebook/Meta as a platform, the VR side is very well focused on the user experience, and removing the barriers to VR use, making it cheap and easy to get into.

Though of course they completely dropped the ball when requiring Facebook accounts as that is not a user-friendly experience.

Hand tracking is awesome in theory. I wish psvr2 had hand tracking so I didn't have to use the heavy and bulky controllers

That's the problem. "In theory" it could be great but, having tried it on Quest, in practice it's pretty limiting compared to using an actual controller with proper tracking, sticks and buttons.

15 cameras and the top apple mobile chip makes for an exceptional experience I'd imagine. However the price tag is likely to put it so far out of my reach it's not even with dreaming about!

Be interesting to see just how expensive it is in the end.

I expect the first gen will be a lot like the first gen Apple Watch or iPad, i.e. works but not that good for consumers. Second generation will be a big leap forward.

Well it almost certainly won't work with steamvr and the like, so no flight or sim racing. No beat saber either I'd image, so it will be apple specific games and apps. Granted, I assume they will be pretty awesome.
Hell of an expensive way to play mini golf though  ( :edit: oh nope, no controllers with it I don't think)

I'll still be watching the announcement with great interest.

Can’t wait for Tim to demonstrate how this is going to revolutionise the porn industry and make it available to the masses on stage during the keynote!

and rumours are it's supposed to be very, very good

And very very expensive

It has one 4k MicroLED display for each eye, 12 cameras and one Apple M2 CPU and GPU processor for each display to compute all that data - each M2 processor contains 8 CPU and 20 GPU cores

With these specs and the $3000 it costs, the headset better be capable of doing everything an iPhone can

I wonder what Apples motivation is for this. They aren’t involved in gaming so is this going to be some Meta-type situation for virtual workspaces?
