Apple vs Samsung, court orders Samsung to show Apple 5 new phones

Lol Isheep and yet you're a sheep just a member of the opposite herd.

All companies do it, thinking its just apple is your downfall. Samsung is just as bad as are all multinational Coporations. The fact Samsung supply apple, means nothing. It's business as normall for both of them.

Retarded comment. Smiley or no smiley, this is a common practice in law that evidence has to be submitted by a set date so the opposite side can view it and come up with a defense. On
Y one side to blame and that's Samsung for not submitting it earlier. But then I find it hard to accept they did it accidentally. Either they new it didn't show muc so added nothing to the case, or it's dodgy. Either way they knew submitting it late was best plan as they could get it refused and go to media and look like the innocent party.

Why can't people see all companies are as bad as each other, they're all dodgy and this is business as usuall for all parties.

Sense of humor bypass much eh?

I was making a joke

I think people just object to the fact that this is a rather needless case. No one bought an SGS1 thinking it was an iPhone*, phones have looked similar for decades and moved as the times did. 100s of phones emulated Nokias signiture design philosophy for well over a decade and Nokia continued to innovate rather than crying over it. I think they should all just go home and take a long think about the childish slapfight they are having rather than this mockery of a case. I blame Apple as the instigator of this drama llama and blame Samsung for copying a bit too much when they didn't need to.

Software patents dying would make me happy too.

*well I'm sure some moron did but lets face it, they probably required brain surgery.

Most people object as they are clueless to these things. You can tell by the anti apple statements. People like thinking they arent a "sheep when in reality such people are jut as bad as the "sheep" they moan about, its just a different herd they have joined. People are just obliviuse to patent cases unless it's thrusted down their throats by the media.

It's patent law which is at fault as you point out, but most people genuinely believe apple is doing something underhand/new/more than others. Yet they have so few cases compared to companies like rim and oracle. Some off these companies have 6000 pending cases compared to apples ~250

Precisely this.

Admittedly, my post was a bit partisan in tone - I actually used to be a massive Apple fan not that many years ago, but part of what has turned me against them is this whiney, hissy 'victim' thing they have going on.

<big whinge>

No-one said that Samsung were any different to any other company or that they should be held in some special regard.

The thing that winds people up about Apple is the massive hypocrisy. They rabbit on about innovation but most of their ideas are stolen from elsewhere, theres videos of Jobs talking about stealing ideas etc thats all fine but when someone else comes within 100 miles of doing something vaguely similar they bang in the lawsuits.

Example: Two days ago Apple said that Samsung were infringing on their design patents because the icons on the second row are a copy of the ones on the top row.

So, in other words no-one else can have a picture of a yellow flower, or it would seem even a part of a yellow flower ?

Stupid.

Its not all Apples fault either, they are playing the system and the system is ridiculous to start with..

For their part Samsung are not perfect either.

If Samsung lose (and I think they will) competition and innovation will stagnate and Apple will sit back, resting on its laurels. I'm pretty sure none of us want that.

The iPhone 5 in September will define whether Apple are resting on their laurels or not, I don't want them to either.

We all know that when they put their mind to it, they can produce great things.

What's stupid is people getting irate about apple when Samsung does the same thing.
Nothing apple is doing is anything that other companies don't. So why are you singling them out.
Of course othe people can have a flower. It's when you have a similar product with similar look that courts decide. Again it's nothing new.
Nothing wrong with stealing ideas. They again all do this. The issue is when those ideas are patented.if it was ok to steal ideas. Then there would never be competition. Take tablets if you couldn't steal ideas no one else could have a tablet and it would be some pc manufacture with the rights to that.

Have you watched that Steve jobs video of the stealing from the mid 90s, context is important.

it will sell like like hot cakes anyways :) people don't even know the specs and already say they will buy it! :) which i guess is good for apple

That's quite true, but a lot of people (more than usual) weren't really taken in by the iPhone 4S.

Bad example picking the flower, what about the music logo that directly rips iTunes for example?

Bad example or not its one Apple have chosen.
With regard to the music one IIRC the icon shows a musical note, are we now saying that any icon that depicts a musical note isn't allowed unless you pay Apple a royalty ?

The system is barmy.

The issue I have is that Apple seem to like patenting pre-existing concepts, touting them as their own and suing everyone that has ever used it. Now others may do this but I don't see reports on it....

that is what annoys me too.. its not the patents and the suing its suing for something that already existed or something that is just natural.. for e.g. the shape of the device.. :o

as people have said.. apple is just using the system that is broken.. which is where the problem lies :) if no one granted them those patents they would never be able to sue others for simple things like that.

Then be annoyed with every company. It's other companies fault for not patenting stuff. Again this is standard Coporations stuff that is in no way apple exclusive.

And that is my problem with these threads.

Blah blah blah I hate apple because of x,y,z, well then why don't you hate pretty much every big company.

There's even patent companies that do exactly that patent crap and live of the royalties.

Get off it.

What I bolded, the "It's other companies for for not patenting stuff"

Besides I wouldn't actually begin to try a discussion with you about anything you disagree on, as it's not worth it, it'd be like speaking to myself, you won't budge, I won't budge, kinda pointless.

That's true. Why do you think companies painstakingly patent stuff before reveal.
