Aquiss

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

Edit: Do you directly assign/route the /29 direct to the PPPoE session/interface, so it can be assigned as individual /32 on lo on the (Linux) router? With YouFibre likely to be merged into VM I'm looking for the escape hatch, and you/Aquiss were excellent when I was with you on Openreach.

I am with Aquiss and have a routed /29, which is in addition to the static IP that the PPPoE interface receives.

It would be nice to have the option to pay a bit less and get a public /31 while the PPPoE interface gets assigned from private or CG-NAT space. This would mean you could put a basic OpenWrt router in front of whatever firewall they had and present a public IP via DHCP to it, while by my count using 7 fewer IP addresses than the current setup with a public IP on the WAN and a routed /29.

Edit: Though having thought about it, if you're going to all this effort at this point in time you might as well move to IPv4 as a service with the underlying network being IPv6-only.

@Rainmaker as @Caged said

We assign every single a /32 and then if a routed block is ordered, we hang it on the back of the /32. This allows the routed block to added/removed whilst the customer still maintains their /32 static IP at all times.

I had a small outage around midnight, lasted a good 10 minutes or so, my eeros had a red light which indicates no internet, was going to restart them before I noticed internet had come back.
@aquiss are you able to check anything your end.

For reference I’m on BT open reach line, London area.

Thanks

Openreach usually schedule maintenance overnight so it was probably that. No downtime on my cityfibre line last night.

Most people won’t notice due to the time but for people who are up late..

*Planned Maintenance - Cityfibre ENNI Maintenance - Manchester*

We will be performing a reload of the line cards that terminates our ENNIs with Cityfibre in Manchester (as a rough guide - this is customers who connected from circuits based in Scotland and Northern England)

This will cause an outage of up to 15 minutes for any Cityfibre circuits delivered via our ENNI in Manchester during the following window:

Start time: Tuesday 27th October 2026, 01:00AM GMT
End time: Tuesday 27th October 2026, 01:30AM GMT

I'm not sure Aquiss understand what customers (well, this one at least) expect from their WhatsApp channel.

They say "Get the latest service updates, planned maintenance and product information direct to your mobile" which is fine, but I don't give a toss if a customer has been with them for 20 years. Did all their customers signed up to the channel really need to be told that?
