Arc Raiders

Lol, dont fret too much on it, I'm just someone who places a lot of importance on communication and clarity of whats being said, for me in life, clear communication and understanding of the meanings of whats being said is an important thing. I do know though that a lot of people dont put as much emphasis on their use of language so probably does seem odd to many folk. Thats fine :)
i respect that, but you come across as a little rude/patronising - i'm sure someone as passionate about language and communication as you are will appreciate the feedback ;)

I'm still enjoying it, particularly playing with people you know.

I must admit I've very much lost my appetite for playing solos though.
Likewise. I havnt solo'd for over a week, just no appetite for it. Still regularly group playing with friends and still enjoying it. Its getting a little samey without new missions though.

Anyone got a good strat for doing damage to the matriarch?

It was on spaceport just now and I got on a roof and put about 110 rounds into it with my ferro from range but noticed most of my shots were not even doing any damage, came out with about 650 points not even enough for 1 star.

You'll need heavier weapons like Wolfpacks, grenades, hullcracker, etc.

I've not done it myself but I've seen videos of people snaphooking on top of the Matriarch and planting Deadline mines on top which cause massive damage. Just don't get caught in the blast!

I've also seen the same but they've shot away with a torro

I miss when players used to help each other in this game, now it's just griefing jerk wads camping out at exits.

Nigh on impossible to gather stuff for the quests unless you go in fully tooled up and even then you'll have a trio just griefing for what? 3x Fireball Burners and some durable cloth. Awesome.

I much preferred this game when it was a balance of PvE and PvP, now it's just PvP and it totally overshadows the other mechanics. It's a damn shame.

I just got done by someone at southern station in buried city. Jolt mine, then he was on me. I completed my mission though, and the shots I got off on him did my cred mission. Next time I'll take one if the stations with stairs

Had a few solos / duos yesterday and it's become friendly again. Appears most who wanted the 5 mill have completed their massacres and either taking a break until the reset or busy focusing on trials. Last game , I extracted with 6 solos all doing quests, as I was.

I think you'll find in practice that is far more difficult then the likes of YouTube make out.

Like trying to put the mine on the back of a Bastion.

I was trying to find a slightly safer way if not getting such high results.

Her armor is the problem.

You're very unlikely to get damage points shooting it without a Hullcracker or explosives to break the plates first.

Since you have a limited loadout, let your teammates, or if solo, other more suitably equipped randoms break the plates. If you have explosives tho, get in there and toss them. Make sure you have cover very nearby.

Don't waste ammo helping them strip the armor; just wait until you see a plate fall off.

Once a plate drops, dump everything into the exposed area. The red core near the face is the best target, but even unarmored legs will award points.

Alternatively, if you can't wait for a plate to fall you can try for the yellow weak spots under her legs (similar to a Bastion), but those are very difficult to hit, and getting the angle on them is going to probably put you closer than you want to be.

If you're running anything other than hull cracker or simialr you need other players to expose a weak spot for you. If there arent any then it's better to move on.

Once the plates are down you can do dmg numbers even with light ammo weapons. Just make sure you target the exposed areas only.

The Queen is a similar story when it comes to armour btw. But I've only 'properly' fought her once so I'm not 100% sure they're identical regarding the yellow under the legs.

The matriarch I've fought multiple times, usually on Spaceport (from the tower base) with randoms in solos.

I only spotted the yellow under her legs yesterday actually, but even that close it was difficult to target because although she doesn't move around a lot, she does move her legs often as she shifts.

Also **** getting underneath her. Aside from the dmg she does, you're very likely to get hit by a stray or targeted attack from another raider.

Although I will say, to date, I've never once been targeted by other raiders in solos while we are working on a Matriarch.

i have never even seen one of those yet i dont think...... i have seen something similar but much smaller - bombadier and bastion - and it killed me tout suite so now i just keep away.

i suppose i am gonna have to work out how to take them out at some point but given no one on my friends list has this game i will be doing it on my own :/

If you like bastions and bombardiers, you'll love the matriarch.

She can keep spawning them when you fight her. It does say "beware of her children" when you join the map she's on :D

As well as the leapers, rocketeers and all the other guff she chucks at you.

For a free loadout a Bastion really needs cover and more than one person to kill it without explosives. That way when it turns to turn your mate into paste you have time to target the bright yellow blobs either on its leg joints, or the canister on its rear. Then it's your turn in the shredder while the random or your squad mate gets a pop at the yellow bits.

If you start with the legs it gets immobile pretty quickly. With several legs broken it struggles to turn and you don't need to worry about ducking in and out of cover so much. Once they're all broken it's really slow and you won't need cover at all to hit the rear or wherever is left.

Break all the yellow and it's dead.

It's a different story with explosives or the very heavy weapons, but for anything else this works fine.

The matriarch icon will show on the map screen before you select the map you want if she's present. Same with the queen and the harvester. The map image will change as well. They look like enormous mechanised spiders.

It isn't a separate option like choosing night raids or electrical storms, it's a modifier to the base map, like lush blooms.
