Arc Raiders

Yeah the re-use isn't the end of the world, honestly unless you play both games, then it's a bit jarring. It's more the gameplay aspects of it that really hit me, and made me reflect on Arc. There's something about that which bothers me. It's sort of sloppy and chaotic and I think if I'm being cynical it's on purpose so that people can hop in and play without much game time or practice and just get the drop on someone and win. It massively lowers the skill ceiling.

You know what that reminds me of, TF2. Exact same thing with random crits. Sometimes you're pushing a CP and some soldier randomly gets a crit and they frag damn near half the team in a single shot. getting second teamed and 3rd teamed and sometimes 4th teamed on Arc feels the same way. These are impossible scenarios that are encouraged to happen which even the best players can realistically survive, it's just their time to die and someone else's time to win. Not a fan of that at all. Multiplayer games with low skill ceilings tend not to last that long.
Mind you, TF2 was awesome :) , having said that, in regard of multiplayer games with low skill ceilings not lasting long, we'll have to see, almost from the first page of this thread the doomsayers have been declaring that Arc Raiders will be dead within a week, a month, 2 months (strange folk)...yet its still the no.1 top populated game in its genre, so I'll keep my positive outlook on the game for now :D

Yes. TF2 was an amazing game, I played that for 756 hours, and that's only since recording time played began, I don't even think that was a think at the games release. It's way more than that. But TF2 was fun despite that happening and many custom servers just turned it off and had only crits when they were earned like with the medic gun.

Arc Raiders is bleeding plays though, the peak concurrent always happens on a Sunday, and the last numbers since it's overall peak has been:
481,966
449,369
418,520
376,519
330,662

Judging by the mid week numbers so far, comparing to previous mid week numbers, the cold snap update has not brought many players back. I hope Christmas brings in a fresh wave and brings people back for the expedition. We'll see. But It's doing better than I thought it would by this point, I was expecting a more aggressive falloff. If it can't hold a relatively competitive core it's going to struggle, those people are always the core for games like these.

It is dropping yeah, as you'd expect, its the normal behaviour for a title. That being said, even at 300k, that still means its almost 10 times higher than the concurrent players of ANY other title in the genre. Its dominating the genre and shows no signs that it will drop from being the top title in its genre any time soon.

So ive played a few hours now as solo with crossplay off for the safest playground as i find my feet and nobody attacked me up to this point , most just use the dont shoot voice line emote.
As someone who would love the option of pve only this is literally pve only so far.
I will be honest as someone who really enjoys pve in other extraction games the pve enemies so far are not much of a threat so i totally get the feeling of possibly getting attacked at any second adds a lot.
I know ive barely scratched the surface at this stage and im aware there are far more dangerous pve enemies later in the game.
Im pretty sure if they ever offered a pve only option the pve enemies would be tuned to suit and be more aggressive, more of them etc.
As much as im enjoying the chill feeling so far i can see myself matchmaking to fill a squad for pvp too.

Heh. Wait. Give it time.

Sooner or later you'll have 3 wasps, 5 hornets, a rocketeer, a leaper and a bombardier aiming at you and you'll very quickly realise that the enemies absolutely do not need to be tuned to be more aggressive.

Ah thats good to hear , so my point of more of them still stands :)

Watch me die to a solo arc in my next round haha.

It's great. You'll be cautiously minding your own business when a snitch will spot you and call in his mates. To avoid them you make a run for it, but accidentally aggro a leaper on the way. So now you're hiding trying not to die, when a rocketeer flies overhead and hears all the commotion, and because they can shoot through windows you run to the other side of the building where you get set on fire by a fireball, and then a pop goes bang next to you. Naturally you **** yourself and panic so you run right in to the line of sight of a bombardier's spotter who then shines a laser beam of loldeath on to you and precisely 27 milliseconds later a grenade gets shoved so far up your arse that you can taste it. You lie there with your shield all busted wondering whether to quit or wait it out in the hope that someone finds you.

And then a ******* robot spider runs past and laughs at you on the way to murder the guy holding the defib.

Good times.

Crazy good games today, been playing with @PrincessFrosty for a good few hours, I dont think we even died once, killed a few teams as well, most times we basically just annihilated them really. Despite that we were not even playing aggresive (honestly) and one team I actually felt really guilty about as they had absolutely no chance.

Me and @BUDFORCE have been on a murder spree and I don't think his conscience survived. Duos is a real sweet spot at the moment. Some absolute kino moments today.

This loadout is so much fun it's scary.

That looks fun!
I bet you burn through that medium ammo quick. I've never taken a torrente into a lobby, but I've given it a bash after finding one and it was a beast.
