Arcane (Netflix series)

Episode 7 was brilliant....that, along with 6, were my standouts of the entire season. As for the finale, I have thoughts.

MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD, obviously

The last episode left me feeling....mixed.
I really, really disliked the cliched 'holding onto someone over an edge who lets go to sacrifice themselves' bit with Jinx. That's been done with Cliffhanger years ago and many times over. They could have found something better.
I also just think it felt a bit too rushed, cramming in too much into 40 minutes. Needed to be feature lengh, or one more episode for my liking.
Jinx is alive, for sure....but again, felt as as a very major character she deserved something more 'solid' rather that that sacrifice and open-ended...well, end.
Didn't like the Heimer loose end, felt the character deserved more impact.
Turns out Singed was the real winner of the whole season.
Did enjoy the full-circle resolution to Jace and Viktors arc.

After the massive highs and lows....I guess it just left me feeling a bit flat. It was missing something, and I don't know what.

Looking forward to watching the final act later.

Watching it on a widescreen monitor is pretty awesome although I do envy you OLED people :D.

It deserves all the praise it's getting. I'd love to watch it again with my lad but as he's only coming up to 9yo I don't think it's appropriate!

Agreed. Unreal routine but the landing wasn’t quite perfectly stuck.

Finished it and it's the best anime I have seen....... The art style, the characters, the story wow!

I'd rate it 9/10, the only thing letting it down was the terrible music ( french at times ) and the complete uturn rushed switch at the end

It was truly special, what a show.

Best animation I’ve watched, with Blue Eyed Samurai being close second.

Also it’s not an Anime, its made in France :D

Crazy really because the Season 1 had much better music. The final scenes of S1 with Jinx launching the bomb over a song that Sting wrote and performed and it had his voice vocoded underneath his natural voice it just was sublime in the Arcane way. I did think the last few songs in S2 didn't even begin to hold a candle to S1. Still though its probably the best animation I've ever seen I loved it, all of it, maybe S2 I think they start to rush to get it out in certain parts but it still worked and was incredible. I don't usually rewatch things but I think I'll rewatch Arcane over and over.

Also it’s not an Anime, its made in France :D

Wasn't sure what to call it as I was well aware it wasn't made in Japan

"Arcane (titled onscreen as Arcane: League of Legends) is an adult animated steampunk action-adventure television series created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee"

and this below

However, that is not the case in Arcane. While talking with the animation director Barthélémy Maunoury who worked on the show, along with his animation studio Fortiche, he confirmed that they took some cues from anime.

So it's not Anime, it's not a Cartoon... But it took some cues from both! It's that unique

Amazing series.. up there with Avatar, GITS and FMA with some of the the best story telling..

Is jinx dead?

I really hope that she is.. RIP
I love her as a character, she; in my eyes is the hero of this story and she deserves to go out as the hero.

People are theorising that the air ship is her sailing away.. having said that “i will fly in one of those one day” but she has already have in s01e04 when we first see her as jinx.

That monkey bomb, she designed to kill herself with, we seen it many times taking her out as ekko reverse time to stop it. She had always been prepared to be killed by the right person, someone that she loved.. she has “allowed” both Vi and Ekko have a kill shot on her only for them not to be able to do it.

It was her sacrifice to save her sister at the end, knowing that she would never let go..

Yes she may have escaped via an air duct, but I think it just cheapen her last act as the big fat hero..

Will Arcane get a 3rd series?

Of sorts, yes, but the Piltover/Zaun/Jinx/Vi story is done. They're moving onto other areas of the universe, so it'll be back with other characters. Apparently they're already a year into production on the next phase.

However, they said they wanted to make an MCU-style affair, so...I'm expecting some overlap. Might see a converging story sometime in 2034 ;)

While not confirmed:

it's pretty much accepted that she isn't. The shimmer trail you see leaving the explosion, Cait looking at the plans while holding part of a monkey bomb, plus the airship - she's alive. I suspect she'll back back (as mentioned above) much later down the line.

When this first came out I wasn't expecting it to be any good just another Netflix cash in, I'm glad to be so wrong, what an amazing series just so well put together the animation, the music the story the voice acting all just amazing
