So can anyone explain why this crap only happens on pc parts?

You don't see this on other high demand electronics such as the latest iPhone or android phone, nor on consoles. Their price stays fixed during release and stays fixed. They dont **** about with the prices of those every few minutes

I've seen quite a few condolence messages from people who collect trainers (well they say sneakers, I dunno if it's a thing in the UK) where apparently the same kinda bots and scalper things happen with their fancy releases ... also isn't there some shenanigans going on with Playstations right now? I've not looked into it as I'm entirely uninterested in consoles but I thought it was something alike to with the nVidia cards.

I wonder how companies can avoid this in the future? Only way I can see is to effectively hold raffles then it doesn’t matter what time you pre-order / order. Even if pre-orders had opened on the day of the announcement I think a lot of sites would still have crashed.

Mine is exactly the same. Paid with paypal and money went pretty much instantly - Order was still 'Processing' last night, now its 'Order Received, Payment Processing'. Managed to get my order in about 3:15 yesterday afternoon, but still no confirmation or email from them!

I am in the same boat, however mine has now changed to "Order Received - Not yet shipped", so hopefully all is ok.

I see a lot of people saying their order has changed to 'Order Received, Payment Processing' but still no confirmation email. This is what has happened to my order also.

I'm just hoping this is a sign that OCUK is going through the orders and trying to vet out the bots from the genuine customers.

It'll be like getting a Glastonbury ticket - everyone will have to pre-register

I ordered the inno 3D iChill X4 which won't be shipped until halloween (insh Allah!), I experienced none of the issues others have reported, save for the lag on the OC server, everything went reasonably smoothly and I also got the free delivery. I do wonder though with a 6 week lead time, has the card even been manufactured yet?

In the same Inno3D boat, and would like more info on the availability.

aaaa where You got that info cause Inno3D is what I wanted but managed to get gigabyte dont know whats order status but worried ill end up selling it on later as not sure if water block fits only found out its tad modified PCB after placed order heh.

They all said Oct 31st estimate. Almost went Zotac for block compatibility, but that was Oct 9th estimate and 50 quid more.
You might get lucky with a gigabyte compatible block, but it's a gamble I didn't want to take.

I'm sure they did this for the AMD 290 launch.

I seem to remember people paid a deposit, and then emailed OCUK saying what they wanted or if they wanted their deposit refunded

The products shall all be live on the website between 5am - 6am along with benchmarks posted in our forum. The BF4 cards won't be available to add to basket online and will state **SOLD OUT** this is because the stock is reserved for those of you recieving these emails. :)

another point on the exchange rate, in the past gibbo has stated prices move on the site due to what price they bought their stock at, so a change in exchange rates shouldn't have effected the launch in the first place unless gibbo was buying cards as people where trying to buy them from ocuk.

any who after being a customer from back in the fun days of 2000 when i built my first pc a amd t-bird 1ghz (pre oc'd to 1.2ghz and sold that way, remember them days) you guys have really lost my trust over this with how the prices have been all over the shop this week let alone how they jumped mid purchase for some yesterday.

guess we wait to see how the 3070 launch goes as well as rdna 2 or ryzen 4000, im sensing everyone is in for a fleecing.

In the UK the retailers selling the PS5 for example, opened pre orders at the SET price of £449, that priced remained fixed throughout.

What they didn't do is add £50 between adding to your basket and checkout, or constantly change the price so you don't know exactly how much you'll be paying until the money is taken.

Equally they also don't take the money up front for pre orders, meaning your money ends up in the retailers accounts for potentially months while you wait.

There is no excuse they can give that will condone those actions.

Stop paper lanches. We call in the same boat just wait until it ships, could be weeks...

I bought a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Eagle OC for £698.99 which is now in status: "Order received - not yet shipped"
I just checked and the pre-order is now at £689.99. Only a couple of £ but seems a bit off if you ask me - I also had free shipping so it's not that.

Not pleased about these price fluctuations.
