I would agree with you on that if not for one point. OCUK take payment at time of purchase, not at time of stock allotment / shipping. They're basically inviting people to give them money for them to earn interest on (no matter how small the amount that is), with no word on when they will ship the product and without saying they have a (let's be honest) MASSIVE backlog of orders. It just seems disingenuous in my eyes.Isn't that exactly what a pre-order is though? I don't see anything wrong with a retailer letting someone join the back of the line - it's a niche bit of hardware, I can't imagine many people in the market for one wouldn't be aware of the deal now, especially after this week. Anyone buying one now knows that they're not in stock and won't be for a very long time
Obviously wait times should be communicated better and stuff, and you'd hope that once retailers get a clearer idea from suppliers they'll pass that along, but I don't feel like still taking preorders at all is some ridiculous thing for a store to do?
what time did you order?
So my number is 5861019
Ordered 14:36
gigabyte eagle
so from this info i should have an idea how long i may have to wait?
So, going off lets say at worse 13,000 orders with these numbers currently ( this is a small sample but as numbes get added the data with be more accurate)14 x MSI Trio ( 25% )
11 x ASUS TUF ( 19% )
8 x Zotac ( 14% )
8 x Gigabyte ( 14% )
6 x MSI Ventus ( 11% )
4 x EVGA ( 7% )
3 x Aorus ( 5% )
2 x ASUS Strix ( 4% )
1 x Palit ( 2% )
Based on 57 submissions
It's not that big of a deal but if you want a bit of separation between gigabyte there's the gaming OC and the Eagle to factor for. I'm just being pedantic14 x MSI Trio ( 25% )

Roughly speaking if you want to know your place in the queue it's the order number minus the 586 at the front. So if your email (not OC) order number is 5864000 then you can assume that you're 4,000th in the queue +/-200.

You are making assumptions that the order number is your relative place in the queue. We don't know that and that would not be 'first come first served' that would be 'first order completed, first served'. As I said earlier once you placed an order how long it takes to authorise merchant payments with card providers and banks is not down to the customer that is on OcUK's side with their payment and fulfilment systems.
