Are India and Pakistan about to have another showdown?

Hopefully you know better than me. But every Pakistani in my wifes family hate Indians and (whenever I broach the subject) every Indian at work hates Pakistanis.

I get the impression that the hate is more from the Pakistanis about Indians though. But admittedly I know fewer Pakistanis than Indians, although I have a much closer relationship with them.

I will not deny that past everything there is hate amongst the people of either country but it’s a very small majority.

I don’t hate Indians at all. I have Indian friends, who don’t hate Pakistanis.

The issue with Asian mentality is they seem to think that brute force is the answer. The public don’t realise this is not the answer because there is no education. The majority of the public if either country are uneducated. You have to go there to understand the mentality.

I will say that there is more to this than is being shown. Politically motivated agendas.

I said there would be a war between these two a couple of years ago and I’m afraid this is just the start. It’s saddening to be honest, I feel there may be issues in other countries between pak and Indian people, they love their home land very much.

Gf is Indian (well her culture is, loosely. She still thinks of herself as Indian even if its like 4 generations past), I can't think of a time there has been any hatered in this regards.

They are terrible. It wasnt so long ago that the US were telling them to sort out their terrorism issue.

They just don't give a ****. Never have never will.

That's kinda my view as well. There must be so much corruption that exists in the Pakistan government to turn a blind eye to terrorist groups setting up camp within your own borders. It's just a recipe for disaster.

I think hate is too strong a word for the sentiment.

My children are educated at a fantastic private school over here, one of the top ones in the state, and despite this I have overheard children freely using the word ' ****' as a derogatory term.

In Gujarat (and specifically Ahmedabad) there is also a large anti Muslim sentiment. This has probably been fueled by the riots a number of years ago, and it isnt helped by the crude split in the city. The east side of the river is Muslim, and the West ' majority' is Hindu.

As mentioned earlier it is common knowledge over here that Modi has no love towards Islam, and yes......I believe it is politically motivated from him. This anti Muslim view obviously smears Pakistan.

A nuclear war would be fun to watch as that would be proper TV entertainment. :D

Living and working over here, I kinda disagree..........

At least someone said it.

Escalation is the only certainty here. Pakistan only has one equalizer against India and that is nuclear weapons.

Nice that Pakistan has already put this guy on TV. I thought the Geneva convention forbid that?

India won't take this lying down. They have a long and bloody history with their neighbours to the west.

India FTW !

Any country with hundreds of gods but its actually the same god cant lose tbh. Pakistan just have the one god and while technically he can be everywhere its not a patch on being everywhere twice over.

The hate runs so deep over there that they even hate each other over here.

My parents were from Pakistan and while growing up I thought the hate towards Indians was something they brought over from Pakistan and it would end with their generation. While at Uni in London I was shocked how many British born Asians genuinely hated anyone who was different, Pakistani\Indian\Bengali or Muslim\Sikh\Hindu.

Some Sikh's in a shared house didn't want me visiting and on one occasion it turned violent. Likewise when I had a Muslim "friend" visit from Pakistan he was shocked and angry I was flat sharing with a Hindu who was also my best friend.

In the early 80s I lived in Pakistan for a couple of years in a small town close to the Indian border and attended a secondary school. There were no libraries or decent bookshops. Everything we were taught in school was about how great Pakistan was as a nation and how India was the enemy. When the Indian PM Indra Gandhi was assassinated there were parties in the street. If you didn't party you were unpatriotic and called an Indian\Hindu sympathiser. Indian movies and songs were banned etc.

Things have changed with the internet, people in those same small towns can now learn about history for themselves. You see it in comments of YouTube videos where viewers will write good things about each others popstars, youtubers and countries. I checked on Twitter earlier expecting to see people spreading hate but surprised to see the opposite.

That must be a lie. People didn't celebrate death in the streets.

I was there. After she was shot people were gathered around radios waiting to see if she survived.

It's one of the stronger memories I have of Pakistan and one of reason I never wanted to go back after witnessing first hand all the hatred which was taught in schools and mosques. I've had lots of arguments in the past with Pakistani's when they talk about how beautiful the country and it's people are.
