I think porkrind lasted about 0.0059 seconds before Freefaller smacked the banhammer down on him after his offending post - it was as if batman was moderating the forums.

The problem is that the younger more naive members of the forum are being exposed to his casual almost subliminal racist propaganda and over time this can do serious damage.

The fact that DD and people like him are not banned and made an example of says a lot about OC's true stance on these subjects, until this changes Overclockers will remain to be seen as a right-wing racist and bigoted forum by the rest of the internet...... Simples...

I think you are trying to manipulate the forum towards minority groups next you will be wanting reverse discrimination. Maybe we should give C.R.A.Z.Y mod rights and you just decide what you don't want children to read.

Can you imagine if the children actually heard some racist opinions, they could grow up to be genocidal dictators or even worse, they could be racists.

What is wrong with having a laugh about the differences between ethnic cliches. Comedians make fun of different groups of people all the time. Can you not see that the comments are in jest ?

It realy does come across as an agenda to push some sort of liberal view down everyones throats.
 
Actually I've been a youth worker for over 7 years and you would be shocked at the level of casual racism and homophobia that so many of our young people display and think is acceptable!
Hate filled idiots like DD are part of the problem, they shouldn't be given a platform imho.

Wait wait wait. We can't just ban DD - for posting some of his threads - I ENTIRELY agree, I cannot abide his views or what he stands for, but nonetheless we can't just ban him like that. That's really unfair, and I take a little bit of offence to that. We do a thankless job here, and whilst we may not get it right all the time, tarring the forums and the moderators with the "right wing bigot" brush is offensive.

And lastly, can we stop picking on DD - it's not really fair to highlight one person. Irrespective of whether or not you agree/disagree with his views, let us please not turn this into a hate/witch hunt exercise.
 
That is true, I don't think I have seen anyone really thank a moderator for all the work that is put into the forum. Yet, when something minor crops up, we get all the abuse and criticism.

I generally get thanked a lot for the work I do for customer based work, but never seen a moderator here be thanked for the unpaid efforts.
 
FWIW (and accepting it sounds like I'm brown nosing) given the strong personalities, strong opinions and breadth of topics and background of members on these forums I tend to think the mods do an excellent job of walking a fine line between allowing people to be open and discuss sometimes controversial topics and keeping things reasonably civil and sensible.

Keep it up chaps and keep in mind that the vast majority of forum members are happy with the content of the forums and the job OCUK/Mods do maintaining them. With a membership this size there's always going to be a few people unhappy (and yet strangely continue to use the forums... go figure).

Everyone is too worried about offending others these days.

Ok we should try our best not to and not go out purposefully to offend others.

But lets face it. Offending a few people isnt the end of the world.

I try my best not to offend..but I wont change my views to mollycoddle people.
