Are you doing anything with Hue?

That's what has always bothered me and why I've never gone with smart lights. Compared to standard led bulbs they don't really give off much light.

When they reach standard brightness that's when I'll take the plunge.

The other bulbs are fine though, just these E14 ones don't do much.

The Hue E14 bulbs look to be 450 lumen vs the 806 lumen of the E27 bulbs. Looking at the numbers, I would expect the E14 to be dimmer!

Ah I missed that. Assumed they'd be similar - especially seeing as they're the same price!

The Ikea GU10 bulbs are 400 lumen, which is the same as my 'dumb' LED GU10s.

The Hue bulbs do not output the full lumens they quote across all is colour ranges especially the warmer colours. It's only the Lifx that output the full lumens across the full spectrum.

Lumens are not everything, it is how evenly it distributes the light too, plus the optics on the gu10's.
I think the larger form factor of the b22/e27 allows manufacturer more space to optimise internals and ensure light is even.

In kitchen, have 6 gu10 down lighters about 400lumens each, but found on a trial that a single (currently dangling) 9w/900l e27 gives better illumination.

GU10s do tend to have narrow beam angle, but for my ceiling heigh that doesn't really seem to matter.

Damn, I came across these when looking at Echo dots....now I really want one.

Was looking at the Philips Hue starter kit with the colour bulbs, but do they sell them as a bayonet cap starter pack? I can't seem to see one anywhere or do I need to buy adaptors for the bulbs?

Also I take it the bulbs need be left in a socket that is always left on and the control of it then shifts to the app and if you leave to go out and want it off then you flick the switch off otherwise switch is always on?

Search for B22 starter kit not bayonet :)

£64 is cheapest I’ve seen the strips, that’s why I haven’t got one yet.
Hoping there’s some deals on strips or blooms on Black Friday

I'm planning on having one of the motion sensors outside under a canopy to activate the outside light, but then I also want a door sensor to activate it as well, might get smart things for that.

A heads up..
