Are you doing anything with Hue?

Has anyone tried the Hue Entertainment yet? There's only Razer on my list so far but apparently you'll be able to sync the lights to your TV, consoles, spotify, etc.

Operational humidity : 5% < H < 95% (non-condensing)
Operational temperature : -20°C to 40°C

Thanks. Would definitely melt then

Oh wow.. that's good news as I want some cheap E14s...

However.. from their site..

The bold bit at the end makes me nervous.. you get to ikea.. buy your stuff then get it home and realise you have v1.1 and have no hub to update.. if it doesn't state a software version on the packaging or if there's a mixture out there this could be a PITA.

But in principal this is great news.. if nothing else the standards are converging around a winner.

I'm thinking of buying a few to try, I can always return them if they don't work.

My issue is getting to IKEA.. there's one which is a 40 mile round trip which isn't too bad but I'm not doing that for a bulb lol.

That has potential to be awesome. Same for me though, just Razer available so far.

It's a bit strange to launch a feature like this with only one partner, and one which is so obscure too.

I'm surprised they haven't launched something that sits between the HDMI and the device and syncs the lights that way, especially for the light strips.

I'm looking forward to seeing this sync in action.

This looks great. Im looking at pulling the trigger and getting the Hue starter kit and doing our 3 up 2 down house in Hue. Where is the best place to get the kit from i know several places do them but do you get better customer service if you buy from phillips direct?

I can't figure out what this entertainment thing is tbh... how would it sync with devices it's not attached to?

I'm wasting my time thinking this would turn my light strip into a sort of ambilight setup right? How would it know what colour was being shown on the screen if I'm just watching my Sky Q box.. the Samsung Plex app or Apple TV right?

I wonder whether someone might be able to help. I've just installed a hue light by my front door. I want it to turn on at sunset and stay one for say 3 hours. The routine on the app will only let me leave it so it stays on until sunrise?

Go to Other Routines and add a new routine to turn the light off when you want it to go off. Unfortunately I can’t see any way to keep it on for three hours after sunset. Quite a surprising omission.

You might be able to do it with IFTTT.. failing that I've got stuff like this setup via my Smartthings stuff.. Slightly pricey to get started but that along with Echos really makes Hue awesome.

That chariot game on Xbox used to work with hue, the Xbox simply connects to the hue hub over Wi-Fi. It’s fine the way the bulbs change colour to match the game, but ultimately pointless as its better to either dim the lights or turn them off when gaming.

IFTTT will do it. My living room lamp comes on at sunset with IFTTT. Then switches off with a bedtime routine through hue.

I believe that that's exactly what it will do. It will work via a service rather than through whatever is connected to the TV. So Sky would have to update their service to integrate with Hue Entertainment.

The way I understand it is that you'll link your Netflix account to your Hue account and then whatever is playing on Netflix will control the lights via your Hue account, exactly the same way you control your lights via the app when you're off your wifi.

I've no idea how they're going to get around the whole latency issue and, with something like Netflix, how they get around the multiple users thing.

I'm going to wait and see how it works with my current lights before I start buying any of the light strips.

This seems to suggest you can go off the batch number
