The problem in this country is that immigrants generally move here in large numbers, they move into the same area and basically set up a mini-version of their home country within the UK. Because of this they don't ever actually assimilate into British life. They don't feel British, so they obviously aren't proud to be British.

No, your kids would probably speak English at home and French everywhere else, go to a french school, have french friends and a mix of french and English culture. Unless of course you home schooled them or sent them to an international school.

They'd also most likely have a French Passport, birth certificate and probably feel a bit out of place if you subsequently moved them to the UK.

If your kids were sensible then yes, they would probably speak English to their kids at home, to make sure they're as fluent as possible in a second (and important) language. They may have English heritage, but would most certainly be French.

Those people you made an assumption are immigrants are probably as British as you and me...

Right now no. Our PM has no spine and is begging for scraps from the US while trying to act like the EU owes us one when the reality is we are not that special anymore.

Crime is rampant and a good percentage of youth think it's an actual career to be proud of.

Good People getting locked up for first offences while criminals get off with a suspended sentence, joke of a justice system. Murderers getting released.

This **** materialistic culture is in full swing and many people have no real morals or ethics of value. Empathy for others is out the window, so is hard work and being frugal/wise with your income.

I don't have problems with homos but to encourage it and teach it in school as a choice is a **** take. How about teach people to actually have some morals and rules they shouldn't cross.

What!? You talk about morals an ethics then say <nope> and imply its a rule that shouldn't be crossed?

And you can't encourage homosexuality and its not taught as a "choice" you <nope>

Punjabi Muslims or those of their descent, will have a very different take on homosexuality to many westerners. All part of multiculturalism.

Being proud of your nationality seems a bit odd to me, as you can’t chose where you happen to be born, and I’ll wager none of us here have really achieved anything in our lifetime that’s contributed to shaping their country in any significant way.

I suppose to summarise my position, it kind of feels like taking credit for other people’s achievements.

Are you proud of your family? Bit odd if so, you didn't choose them.

You play a big enough part in their life to shape and change them though. You may not choose your family but often you are a big part of why they are the way that they are and visa versa.

Tbh you don't need a particular reason to be proud.

I was on mobile, shorthand. It is taught as normal in schools now as equivalent to heterosexuality.

I don't have nothing against LGBT people, I have LGBT friends and I wasn't taught anything about LGBT things.

All is needed is an addendum to the sex education describing the dangers of anal sex and that condoms are a must.

No need to confuse primary school age kids.

We didnt even have sex ed at all when i was at school, let alone primary age. Some Polish friends of ours just removed their children from the local school and moving back to Poland because of this.

Why ? I have no patriotism in me what so ever i would never fight for any country let alone this country..all i care about are my children and aston villa lol

You see, i view football supporters in a weird light. I just cant understand how people associate themselves so much with one team over others with a similar sort of tribalism as others in this thread. Often you can ask people, why do you support them and the answers usually are:

I've always supported them because

1. I'm from there
2. My family is from there
3. My xxxx supports them

It really isn't much different.

Yes but when they are born in Britain then there views are a bit more different then those purely from the countries of origin.

That's it, nobody needs a particular reason to be proud, they can just be.

I don't see a problem with it. However, I do see a problem in people who sneer at those who are proud of something though. How pathetic of those people.

Works the other way round too. Being proud is a personal thing and plenty in this thread are ready to condemn others because people say they are more ashamed at our government or some poorly behaved country men than proud.
