Are you working over Christmas?

Finished at 1pm on 12th Dec and return 6 Jan.

Flippin' great to have so much time off. Although I've spent the past 2 days in bed with whatever horror disease is doing the rounds at my child's school.

Harvest Festivals and Christmas Services ought to come with a health warning.

From late Nov I've done 9 days on, 1 day off, 13 days on, 1 day off, then 8 days on, Xmas Day off, then 11 days on over NYE/NYD.

My next day off, not counting Xmas day as that itself is work will be Jan 6th. Woooo.

Hopefully I've dodged it/will dodge it over the Christmas period but 3 people off work with actual flu this week, one of which likely caught it from their kids, which has messed things up good and proper. Supposedly 1 in 4 people have [actual] flu currently though I'm not seeing that around here.

I used to work in retail as a baker. It was Christmas that convinced me I needed to get out. When other people were starting to relax into Christmas, I was switching to a night shift because of the 3000 extra loaves we had to bake per day over the two week period (and that's for a single supermarket in a town of about 30,000. God knows why people needed so much extra bread!) I'd spend what time off I had over the period too knackered to enjoy it.
So these days I always save enough holiday and have the whole two weeks off. Lovely.

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I'm not working at all over the Christmas period :D

Our 4 year old was born 3 months premature, and since then 90% of my annual leave allowance has been used up by medical appointments and hospital stays, leaving us scrabbling around for every scrap of time off we can arrange over Christmas.

This is the first year since then I've actually had leave left over, so I just booked the whole 2 weeks of the school holidays!

I think it's actually the longest I've had off since our eldest was born 12 years ago! :D

I haven't had much holiday this year, as per usual so I'm off from Friday until I think the second week in Jan.

I'm ready for a break to be honest, think I've had four days off this year on top of weekends so far so feel very dead :(
