Most of them fly in - goverment owned 737's from an Airfield near Vegas.

Quite surprising what google maps shows at 'Area-51' *Shouldn't be called that - that designation was dropped in the 70's* It's really called Groom Lake. Several medium to large transport/passenger aircraft, couple of F16's amongst other stuff.

All it really is a test area.

It's just cos they've got a little 'zealous' in the keeping people out there that it's got this reputation now. Although the US Government have recently acknowledged the existance of the place now.

Experimental and secret aircraft have been and are flown there. Have Blue, Tacit Blue, SR-71, U2, A12, D21, YF112, YF113, B2, F117a, UAV's, UCAV's and god knows what else. Like the Mig 21, 23 and other aircraft they obtained. :D

Well...apart from Aurora. ;)



Other tech is tested there - aircraft mounted on poles with a form of electromagnetic resonating panels - used to vibrate at the frequency of incoming radar to give a rcs in the insect levels.

It's the worlds biggest collection of nerds and geeks. Sounds fun to me.

The things they really want to hide from us we will never see until they want us to. We wont know where, why or how.

Considering the Americans past with UFOs etc i would put the place down to being a test only facility for technologies. When the Americans got UFO sightings near the area before, they purposefully didnt disagree with it as it provided the perfect front to the world.
 
Didnt they test the Stealth Bomber there before it was released and everyone thought it was some kind of alien technology?

I think its just other stuff along the same line being developed.....
 
They allowed everyone to think that they had UFO's and aliens there during the cold war because they wanted the USSR to think they had highly advanced alien technology. Which would serve as a huge deterrent against attack.

Now there isn't an enemy to scare with that sort of stuff so they are getting a bit less secretive about it all.

Skunk Works was in Burbank, California. It's now in Glendale, California. IT's NEVER been anywhere near Groom Lake, Nevada......

Sorry to get picky, but that would be like saying that the London tube is in Glasgow......
 
Isn't area 51 abandoned now because of radiation or something on the site? The whole secrecy thing surrounding Area 51 fascinates me so i've wated a few deocumentaries about it, but would love to know what's inside :)
 
Have a look on google maps, satellite section, look at area 51 then zoom out to about half way, a couple of squares down and one left, then zoom in, what are all those craters ? bomb testing ?

also when you have zoomed out half way, look above area 51, someone has put green dots on the image so you cannot see what is there ?

Is that Elvis's house perhaps ?
 
I thought it was now taken as fact that it's where they develop there new tech. Aliens and all those guff storys were perpetuated to maintain secrecy.
Don't forget that anyone seeing the early stealth planes would have classified them as UFO's.
Anyways wheres Uncle Von he is our man on the spot in matters concerning area 51. :cool:
 
its well known now that the cia and us government fed the alien stories to the newspapers in the 60's to distract from military research - they didn't count on so many stupid people believing them though! ;)

They're round irrigated fields.
 
Having people beleive they have aliens in there is better than having people know the truth -which is that they probably use it develop super-sonic spy planes and weaponry, which would be more dangerous information to some people such as the Soviet Union
